Arriving at an airport is a surefire way of suddenly remembering everything that you forgot to pack. Fortunately, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has your back. The sheer variety of shops on offer covers everything from books and travel cushions to couture and bejewelled mementoes.

After check-in on the Departures Level, but before you pass through security and go airside, the Go Travel store carries some of those travel essentials and other clever, minimalist goods. 

When it comes to fashion, some of the world’s biggest labels are represented. Luxury brands at HKIA include Chanel Dior , Gucci , Hermes Louis Vuitton , and Prada . There are watches and jewellery from global names such as Cartier and Tiffany & Co., with local representation from Chow Tai Fook.

Go Travel is a shop selling travel accessories at the end of a row of check-in counters at Hong Kong International Airport.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong lifestyle and design brands Homeless, Shanghai Tang and CCCCCC Select are go-to sources for distinctive items with local flair -- from witty graphic T-shirts to home accessories with Hong Kong motifs. The sustainably minded will want to check out the airport outpost of Slowood, Hong Kong’s very own zero-waste grocery store, which provides a selection of eco-friendly alternatives to food, travel essentials and souvenirs

Hong Kong flavours have also been brought to the fore, with Fook Ming Tong’s refined and beautifully packaged teas, the city’s beloved egg rolls and mooncakes from Hang Heung Cake Shop, Kee Wah Bakery and Wing Wah Cake Shop, plus a wide range of nostalgic childhood snacks from Okashi Land Hong Kong Délices. Sample biscuits and pastries with Hong Kong character from homegrown brands Cookies Quartet, Cookieism, Patisserie La Lune and Tai On Coffee & Tea – the latter with roots as a traditional cha chaan teng dating back to 1969. Locals will tell you not to leave without a stop at The Peninsula Boutique, an exquisite gourmet spin-off of the city’s iconic hotel, offering everything from artisanal chocolates to chilli sauces and tea blends.

Goods of Desire, or GOD, has a location inside HKIA selling Hong Kong-themed products and clothes.

Pint-size sweet tooths will be sated by all the options at the Sweet Dreams by Heinemann outlets. Virtually all children will appreciate a souvenir from the Hong Kong Disneyland shop, or a visit to Wondersaurus, Toca Loca, and Kaboom – shops filled with books, toys and games to foster imagination and creativity. Adults and collectors alike will be drawn to the POP MART store, where the wildly popular Labubu and other collectable designer toys await, offering a trendy keepsake or gift option.
