Asia Miles and Cathay membership are part of Cathay’s elevated travel and lifestyle offering, with each offering invaluable advantages. There are rewards like flight upgrades, accelerated earning when you dine at our partner restaurants, lounge passes and other great benefits to earn: and here we’ll tell you the difference between Cathay membership, Asia Miles and Status Points, and how to rack them up efficiently.
Asia Miles is no longer a rewards programme. Instead, Asia Miles members automatically became Cathay Green members in August 2022, after we brought together the best of Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles under a single elevated membership.
Now, Cathay members earn both Status Points and Asia Miles. Status Points determine your membership status, and will reset every membership year or whenever your status changes. The higher up the membership ladder you go, the more exclusive benefits await – such as passes to our award-winning lounges, early access to exclusive events and more.
Asia Miles are the currency you earn with your everyday spending, which you can redeem for incredible flights, experiences or lifestyle perks. Asia Miles do not expire, as long as you earn or redeem miles at least once every 18 months.
If you’re not a Cathay member yet, you can register here and start your journey towards incredible rewards today.
Long-standing Cathay members may have been part of the Marco Polo Club. Last year, we enhanced our membership programme by combining Marco Polo Club with the Asia Miles programme, creating a single unified membership portal and combining benefits and rewards that members love for a simplified yet elevated experience. Marco Polo Club points are now Status Points, which you’ll earn as you continue to fly with us or our oneworld partner airlines. You can also earn Status Points through your Standard Chartered Cathay Mastercard® – earn 20 Status Points for every HK$10,000 spent, up to 100 points.
Cathay membership starts at Green, then climbs up to Silver and Gold, with Diamond being the highest status. There are four tiers with an increasing number of member benefits for each, plus mid-status benefits as you accrue points. The higher your membership status, the more privileges you’ll enjoy.
To earn Status Points and elevate your Cathay membership status, all you need to do is continue flying with Cathay Pacific or any airlines affiliated with the oneworld programme. But it’s not just in the air: Standard Chartered Cathay Mastercard holders in Hong Kong will earn 20 Status Points for every HK$100,000 they spend in eligible categories, up to 100 Status Points.
Apart from flying, there’s a wealth of ways to earn miles with your everyday spending, across a huge range of areas: including payment, dining, shopping, holidays and wellness. We partner with more than 800 partners to make it easy to earn. From booking flights to finding the perfect hotel, treating yourself to meals or exclusive experiences, there are so many ways to earn and redeem Asia Miles. What’s more, when you sign up for the Standard Chartered Mastercard you unlock the ability to Pay Once, Earn Twice – multiplying your earning on every transaction.
