The Four Seasons Bangkok is the new riverfront retreat you need

What’s the deal?

The Four Seasons , which has been plotting its return to Bangkok since 2015, has scored prime real estate along the eastern riverbank in the hip Charoenkrung neighbourhood. Designer Jean-Michel Gathy has created a series of airy buildings, landscaped courtyards and water features that cascade through the 3.6-hectare property to the edge of the Chao Phraya river. The result is a tranquil base welcoming creative types, families and business travellers alike as of fall 2020.

Rooms

All 299 rooms and suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows that let the outdoors in – with plush day beds for soaking up the views.

Thai ceramic art graces the interiors, which feature a sophisticated colour palette: shades of grey, white and beige. The largest suites can fit up to six guests and include private terraces.

Facilities

Spa treatments, Pilates, yoga and a Muay Thai boxing ring are some of the hotel’s wellness offerings. Guests can swim at the lap pool or laze around in two infinity pools. The Kids’ Club is a creativity-sparking riverside house on stilts. Yu Ting Yuan for Cantonese and BKK Social Club for cocktails are F&B standouts.

Extra touch

Taking a cue from the galleries, concept shops and renovated warehouses of Charoenkrung, the hotel has put an emphasis on Thai arts and crafts. It has partnered with Bangkok’s Museum of Contemporary Art to launch Art Space, an on-site gallery with rotating exhibits that’s free and open to the public.
