8 things to do in the Greater Bay Area this November

Horizons get broadened this month across the Greater Bay Area, with new neighbourhood shopping hubs to explore, exciting reasons to visit theme parks, world class concerts and festivals to attend, and of course, the high octane return of the Macau Grand Prix. Read on for the best things to do in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area this November.

1. Hong Kong: Airside

The one-time Kai Tak Airport has become a destination all of its own: Airside is a 1.9 million-square-foot shopping complex with an aviation theme. As well as hundreds of shops, the mall will tip a hat to its heritage with exhibitions, artworks and a single-engine aircraft on display. 

2. Hong Kong: Concert and gig highlights

Morrissey returns to Hong Kong to celebrate a four-decade career as both a solo artist and a member of beloved British band The Smiths. Expect hits like This Charming Man alongside tunes from his upcoming album Without Music the World Dies on 16 November. If drum ’n’ bass and jungle are more your thing, British DJ, producer and graffiti artist Goldie will be taking over Basehall for a huge night to celebrate 30 years of his label Metalheadz on 11 November. 

3. Macao: 70th Macau Grand Prix

The sounds of roaring engines will be heard across the Vegas of the East as the 70th Macau Grand Prix takes place over two weekends this month. Head to the Guia Circuit for showstoppers like the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix – FIA Formula 3 World Cup, and learn more about the landmark event’s history at the Macao Grand Prix Museum.

4. Macao: KoolTai festival, Westlife and more

Live music is taking over the Cotai Strip this month. First, Britpop legends Suede lead the lineup at KoolTai festival , performing alongside British pop stars Jessie J and Corinne Bailey Rae and Hong Kong favourites Supper Moment and Per Se (11-12 November). A week later, Westlife performs at The Londoner Macao as part of their The Wild Dreams Tour. For two nights only (18-19 November), they’ll serenade the audience with hits including Swear It Again, My Love and If I Let You Go. Just try to stop yourself singing along.

5. Macao: Hush! Beach Concerts x Urban Yo~Ga Wellfest

Yogis and music lovers will unite on Macao’s Hac Sa Beach, where local musical talents and yoga instructors join forces for a two-day celebration of wellness . From paddleboard yoga sessions to guru-guided classes, the line-up is curated by MGM Hotels and the Macao Cultural Affairs Bureau.

6. Macao: W Macau – Studio City opens

Studio City has a glitzy new addition: the Zaha Hadid Architects-designed W Macau – Studio City is now open. The hotel plays into the Hollywood theme with décor inspired by cinema’s golden age, contrasted with nautical motifs inspired by the property’s surroundings. The W Sound Suite also makes its debut here, so you’ll be able to compose your own chart-topping hits in a recording studio in between cocktails at Blind Tiger bar. 

7. Shenzhen: Chanel Cruise 2024 runway show

After a three-year hiatus, Chanel is back in the Chinese Mainland: Shenzhen hosts a reprise of the fashion house’s Cruise 2024 collection runway show this month. Expect Barbie-pink pieces and the return of that maligned ’80s staple – legwarmers. See more Chanel work at Hong Kong’s M+ museum: in July, it announced a three-year partnership with the museum of visual culture to curate and enhance its moving image programmes.

8. Shenzhen: Hong Kong Science Park Shenzhen Branch opens

Shenzhen strives to become a global tech contender and its latest addition further cements its drive.
