We spoke to Sonia Kwan, a Flight Purser with Cathay Pacific, about her favourite city: Paris. She shares the best things to see, do and eat there.
“There are thousands of reasons to fall in love with Paris. The food, the architecture, the history – it’s all intoxicating. I also admire the Parisian sense of style; how do they make the simplest of outfits look so effortlessly chic?”
Naturally, you have to visit the Eiffel Tower . I recommend taking the metro and getting off at a stop early to walk through the lovely Champ de Mars gardens. You’ll enjoy a much more scenic route to the tower, with great views of it on the way. I also stopped here for a picnic during my trip.
Another classic itinerary item is a day trip to the Palace of Versailles . It takes about two hours to reach by train but the destination is worth the journey. Walking around this grand, gorgeous estate, learning about its history and imagining the lives of its former inhabitants is really thrilling.

I love trying different French dishes when I’m in Paris – duck confit is my favourite – but the city’s global ties mean you can get great food from around the world, including amazing Vietnamese pho. It’s perfect for satisfying my Asian food cravings.
For an extra special dining experience, book an evening cruise along the Seine. The packages are surprisingly good value: the one I booked came with a three-course dinner and a selection of wine. You get spectacular views of the illuminated Eiffel Tower, too.
Whenever I travel, I like to share all the memories I’m making with friends and family. Having a reliable internet connection is therefore important, so I make sure to carry a good quality portable Wi-Fi hotspot .
