Gazing up at Singapore’s iconic hotel from street level is one thing; experiencing the opposite vantage point is another. Marina Bay Sands’ infinity pool, 57 floors above the ground, puts you at eye level with the clouds, and it feels as if you might spill over into the glistening bay and Singapore skyline below. There are poolside loungers available as well – if you can pull yourself away from the panorama.

Available exclusively to suite guests, it’s easy to imagine you’re swimming on a tiny floating island in the sky. That is, until a glimpse of Thai skyscrapers brings you back to Earth to admire the views of the city unfurling before you.

The highest pool in the world can be found on the 118th floor of the ICC, Hong Kong’s tallest building, in the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong – and given its height, it’s probably for the best that it’s an indoor pool. Through the glass, buildings look like toy blocks and mountains resemble clay models. You might just spend more time sightseeing through the pool windows than paddling.
