“Hold your fare” is a service offered by Cathay Pacific Airways Limited (“Cathay Pacific”, “we” or “our”) that allows customers (“you” or “your”) to put Cathay Pacific flight bookings on hold, subject to the terms and conditions set out herein.
“Hold your fare” is only available for bookings made on the Cathay Pacific’s official website, mobile application, or WeChat Mini Program (WCMP).
The Fee may vary if you make your booking through different Cathay Pacific channels due to foreign exchange rate fluctuations.
The applicable holding period (“Holding Period”) for “Hold your fare” is 72 hours from the time the booking is confirmed.
When “Hold your fare” is selected, the flight fare for the selected itinerary will be fixed for the Holding Period.
The fixed flight fare under “Hold your fare” will no longer be valid after the expiry of the Holding Period.
Valid electronic payment information must be provided at the time “Hold your fare” is selected.
The fee chargeable for “Hold your fare” (“Fee”) will be collected at the time “Hold your fare” is selected. The Fee remains payable regardless of whether the booking is subsequently cancelled or the ticket purchase is completed within the Holding Period.
The Fee is non-transferable.
If, during the period when your fare is on hold, Cathay Pacific has to reschedule or cancel the relevant flight, we will notify you via email, SMS, or a push notification via the mobile applicable. In such case, you will be entitled to apply for a refund of the Fee by contacting Customer Care.
Bookings held with “Hold your fare” and subsequently ticketed via our United States website may be eligible for a refund of amounts paid in connection with the bookings, including the Fee, in accordance with the latest Cathay Pacific refund policy.
The Fee charged for “Hold your fare” is non-refundable, subject to applicable laws and regulations which may entitle you to additional refund rights or compensation due to cancellation, delay, denied boarding, or other circumstances in certain jurisdictions to and from which we fly. For further information, please refer to our General Conditions of Carriage , Conditions of Contract and Customer rights and regulations.
The Fee is charged on a per passenger, per booking basis. The amount of the Fee may vary depending on the point of commencement of the booking itinerary.
“Hold your fare” is only available for bookings with the first flight departing at least seven days (168 hours) or more after the “Hold your fare” option has been selected.
“Hold your fare” is not available for certain countries, special offers, hotel bookings, package bookings, interline bookings, some land and sea transport (codeshare services) and flight awards bookings. Cathay Pacific has the sole and absolute discretion on whether or not “Hold your fare” is available for any flight, package or booking.
If “Hold your fare” has been selected, other related products (including advanced seat reservations and travel insurance) will not be applicable at that time. Those other products, where applicable, may be added to the booking after you have completed the booking and purchased the flight tickets (subject to availability).
Once “Hold your fare” is selected, the relevant flight ticket(s) under it (including all details recorded in respect of each ticket) cannot be changed in any way. For example, if “Hold your fare” is for two passengers on the same flight, completing payment for just one out of the two flight tickets (nor making any change to passenger names or travel dates) will not be permitted.
No changes may be made to a flight booking (including travel dates, travel itinerary or passenger names) under “Hold your fare”. If any change is required to be made on such flight booking, a completely new booking is required and the Fee will remain non-refundable.
All applicable ticket fare, taxes and service fees will be charged only when you confirm the booking and complete the payment for the relevant flight ticket.

Cathay Pacific reserves the right to adjust the amount of the Fee and revise these terms and conditions at any time.
In case of any discrepancy between the English version and any translated version of these terms and conditions, the English version shall prevail.
These terms and conditions are governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of Hong Kong.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions that cannot be resolved, shall be submitted to the jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong.
Online, Mobile, and WeChat Mini Programme Booking Terms and Conditions
Welcome to Cathay Pacific's online booking, mobile booking, and WeChat Mini Program (“WCMP”) booking platforms. Please review the following terms and conditions carefully. Your acceptance of these terms and conditions are required before the booking process can continue or be accepted by Cathay Pacific Airways Limited ("Cathay Pacific").
These terms and conditions apply to all aspects of the booking process with Cathay Pacific, across the online booking, mobile booking, and WCMP booking channels of Cathay Pacific (together, the “Cathay Digital Booking Platforms”), and are subject to the laws of Hong Kong. They do not affect the contract of carriage itself. They may be amended at any time without notice (unless required by applicable law), and the current version at the time of your booking will apply to your booking. It is your responsibility to check for changes each time you book with us.
These terms and conditions apply to all booking-related pages and functions.
The information contained in the Cathay Digital Booking Platforms is subject to change without notice. Cathay Pacific has endeavoured to ensure that all information is accurate. However, Cathay Pacific neither warrants nor makes any representations regarding the accuracy or completeness of the data or information provided via the Cathay Digital Booking Platforms. Fare listings are for general information only, and do not reflect real-time seat availability.
The Cathay Digital Booking Platforms are specifically designed for the purpose of booking and ticketing on flights operated by Cathay Pacific and its partners only.
Each user registering to use the Cathay Digital Booking Platforms will be asked to submit a password for identification purposes. Cathay Pacific members will use the pre-assigned PIN (personal identification number) given during the registration process. Please keep this password confidential for security reasons. In case you have forgotten your password, we will be able to help you retrieve it if you have entered a preset question according to the instructions found on the registration page. If you have forgotten both your user ID and password, then a new account will need to be set up for security reasons.
A maximum of 9 seats (adults and children inclusive) may be booked in each complete booking transaction, and all passengers must travel together. Child tickets (for children aged 2 to 11 inclusive) are available, but any child ticket(s) booked through the Cathay Digital Booking Platforms must have at least one adult booked in the same transaction, and are subject to age verification upon check-in. All tickets booked in one transaction must have the same itinerary. If any of the flights need to be different, a separate booking will be required.
A valid form of payment is required for completing the transaction on any Cathay Digital Booking Platform. Once you have pressed the "I Agree" and "Confirm and Pay" button, Cathay Pacific will be entitled to debit your chosen form of payment. Cathay Pacific will apply risk management controls before a transaction is accepted, and delays or rejections may occur. If the transaction is accepted, the contract of carriage will be made immediately, and Cathay Pacific will transmit to you an acknowledgement message to confirm your booking. If you do not receive an acknowledgement message, please contact our Customer Care. We accept most major credit card brands. Actual acceptable forms of payment may vary by market and across the Cathay Digital Booking Platforms; and they are displayed on the payment page. Note that credit card issuing banks may charge you an international transaction fee, dependent on the country of departure and the currency of your credit card. Please check with your credit card issuing bank for details of charges. For questions related to payment security, please refer to Cathay Pacific's Customer Privacy Policy or contact our Customer Care.
The physical credit card used to pay for ticket(s) may be requested to be presented by the cardholder for verification at check-in, or when collecting the tickets. The cardholder may also be requested to present the physical card used at the nearest Cathay Pacific Ticketing Office for verification prior to the flight departure. The cardholder does not need to be also the passenger(s) named in the ticket(s). If a transaction is successfully made after completion of a one-time password customer authentication process such as Verified by Visa, MasterCard SecureCode, American Express SafeKey or ProtectBuy, the cardholder will not be required to present the physical card used for verification. Cathay Pacific reserves the right to deny boarding and cancel the ticket(s) and contract of carriage , or to collect a substitute payment (in cash or from a new credit card) should the passenger(s) named in the ticket(s) fail to present the credit card originally used for the booking of the ticket(s) when so requested at check-in. In the event that the ticket is cancelled or substitute payment is received as aforesaid, the fares (or an equivalent amount) of the ticket(s), if already debited to the credit card in question, will be refunded and credited to the same credit card within 14 days from the date of such payment or cancellation (as the case may be). Cathay Pacific shall not be held liable whatsoever to the named passenger, the credit cardholder in question and/or any third party in connection with or arising from the cancellation of the ticket(s) and the contract as aforesaid.
All fares and taxes will be charged in the currency of the country of first departure, except for bookings made on the Chinese Mainland site where fares and taxes will be charged in RMB when the first departure port is Hong Kong. If any alternative payment option is provided by Cathay Pacific, such as the choice to complete your transaction in another currency, the price provided by Cathay Pacific may incorporate costs, fees and/or charges such as bid-ask spread and mark-up. In determining any pricing, or components thereof, Cathay Pacific may consider the costs and risks it assumes under the transaction, including any foreign exchange risks. For example, bid-ask spread and margin may be influenced by various factors such as the chosen currency pair, liquidity, market volatility, credit risk, internal costs and profit margin, as well as any other relevant considerations. The alternative and original pricing currencies are fully disclosed on the payment page for your reference and comparison. By clicking the “Confirm and Pay” button after choosing an alternative currency, you agree to be charged by the chosen currency and amount instead of the original currency.
Different fares displayed will have different associated rules. There may be limits on the validity of ticket, refund policies and so on, and different cancellation charges may apply. You are strongly advised to read through the rules associated with each type of fare to decide if that particular type of ticket suits your travel needs. Once you have given us your form of payment details and click the "I Agree" and "Confirm and Pay" buttons, the fare rules are considered as accepted and the booking confirmed. Cancellation charges if any, will apply for any subsequent cancellation.
You will receive an eTicket by email. If you do not receive it within 2 hours, please contact our Customer Care.
In rare occasions, the payment transaction may not be successfully authorized and debited from your banking service provider while tickets have been issued for use. Our Customer Care would contact you to complete the payment. In case of failure to get in touch with you after multiple attempts or you refuse to pay in full, Cathay Pacific may cancel or suspend any unused ticket portions, and we may take further action to recover the outstanding purchase amount together with any interest and costs incurred in the process.
Cancellation can be performed on any Cathay Digital Booking Platform, but no partial cancellation is allowed. Please note that once a booking has been cancelled, all follow-up actions (including refund) will need to be effected through our Customer Care. In some cases, your ticket may be valid for future travelling, so please check with the Cathay Pacific Customer Care for rebooking or refund details.
At the time you purchase your air ticket, you will be advised of any charges, fees and taxes not included in the fare that are imposed on us or on you, collected by us on behalf of by governments or other authorities, or by airport operators. If any of these charges, fees and/or taxes should be reduced or abolished after ticket issuance, or you cancel your ticket, you will be entitled to, subject to applicable laws, claim a partial or full refund of unused charges, fees and/or taxes (as the case may be) without being subject to any administrative fees. If any charges, fees and/or taxes should be increased or newly imposed after ticket issuance, you will be obliged to pay it, except as limited by applicable laws.
Notwithstanding any contrary booking terms and conditions and/or fare rules, for bookings made 7 days or earlier before departure, involving itineraries to/from the US, you can cancel paid reservations within 24 hours after purchase for a full refund in accordance with our refund process set out at Changes, Cancellation and Refund.
The 7-day refund policy of the Taiwan Consumer Protection Act does not apply to bookings made with an international airline company. For ticket changes, cancellation and refund, customers should refer to each booking’s terms and conditions and/or fare rules.
Unless otherwise expressly stated in the applicable Travel Extras terms and conditions, Travel Extras are generally non-refundable once purchased, except where:
involuntary disruptions (e.g., flight cancellation or significant schedule change);
product unavailability due to operational or safety reasons; or
a refund is required by applicable law.
Any refund will be issued to the original form of payment and may be prorated depending on the extent of service usage. For further details, please refer to the relevant product-specific terms and conditions.
Where Travel Extras are purchased through third party channels (including, without limitation, WCMP or travel agents), the applicable terms and conditions of such third-party channels may apply. You are solely responsible for reviewing and complying with those terms.
A valid passport and visa for some destinations may required, and are the sole responsibility of the passenger to provide. Compulsory inoculations are also the sole responsibility of the passenger. Cathay Pacific will not be liable for any losses or delays related to the lack of required travel documents.
Some airports may require an additional facility usage fee upon departure. While Cathay Pacific has endeavoured to provide up-to-date information on these fees, Cathay Pacific will not be liable for ensuring the accuracy of this information. You are solely liable for payment of such a fee.
By completing a booking through any Cathay Digital Booking Platform, you agree to be bound by the Conditions of Contract , General Conditions of Carriage and applicable tariffs between Cathay Pacific and its passengers, as if the booking has been made through other conventional channels. Your attention is drawn to these conditions. For customers who choose eTickets as the ticket delivery method, the tariffs may not be transmitted again. By accepting these terms and conditions by clicking the appropriate checkbox during the purchase, you agree to be bound by the terms as stated in the Conditions of Contract , General Conditions of Carriage and applicable tariffs.
Cathay Pacific does not warrant the completeness, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose of any content or data found on the Cathay Digital Booking Platforms. You must keep your User ID and password secret. Cathay Pacific will not be liable for any loss or disclosure of your personal details caused by breach of this clause.
Cathay Pacific is not liable for any direct or indirect loss or damage, any loss of profit or any additional travel costs arising from (i) the use of any Cathay Digital Booking Platform or any information contained therein; (ii) any failure or delay in providing services through the platform; (iii) the provision of any personal details to us including credit card details. For point (iii), please read our Customer Privacy Policy which explains how we provide a safe and secure online transaction environment.
Cathay Pacific disclaims any liabilities for the reproduction or indirect access via third party website or homepage access, whose reproduction misstates or omits any of the information or limitations of fares offered through Cathay Digital Booking Platforms.
Cathay Pacific may cancel or suspend your use of any Cathay Digital Booking Platform at any time without notice, or refuse to give effect to any reservations requested through any Cathay Digital Booking Platform without advance notice, if Cathay Pacific suspects that your User ID and password are being used, or may be used:
by persons who have not been authorised by you;
in breach of these terms and conditions;
in breach of the General Conditions of Carriage or the Conditions of Contract; or
in a manner that may cause loss to you or Cathay Pacific.
Some fares are not eligible for earning, Status Points, Miles or other frequent flyer programme points.
The defined terms used in these terms and conditions have the meanings ascribed to them as follows:
“AML” means Asia Miles Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific.
“Asia Miles” or “Miles” means the unit of measurement of the Cathay Membership Programme, with such Asia Miles or Miles being credited to Members in connection with air travel, services and products purchased or usage of participating services and products as determined by AML in its sole discretion.
“Cathay Membership Programme” means the travel and lifestyle awards and relationship programme owned by Cathay Pacific, and operated and managed by AML (as such programme may be renamed, rebranded, amended or replaced from time to time).
“Member” means a member of the Cathay Membership Programme.
“Miles Plus Cash” means the option for Members to pay for and/or redeem (as applicable) certain products and services using: (i) a combination of a certain number of Miles and a certain amount of cash; (ii) Miles only; or (iii) cash only.
If you are paying for/redeeming your flight booking and/or selected Travel Extras booking with Miles Plus Cash via any Cathay Digital Booking Platform, the following applies:
Once you have pressed the "I Agree" and "Confirm and Pay" buttons at the payment page, Cathay Pacific will deduct the number of Miles you have indicated you wish to use towards redeeming/paying for flight tickets and Travel Extras from your Cathay Membership Programme membership account.
To use Miles Plus Cash for flight booking, you must have at least 5,000 Miles in your Cathay Membership Programme membership account. There is no minimum Miles required in your Cathay Membership Programme membership account when using Miles Plus Cash for separately purchasing/redeeming Travel Extras.
Miles Plus Cash, in relation to payments/redemptions for air travel, may only be used to redeem/pay for:
flight bookings made on Cathay Digital Booking Platforms;
flight bookings made through contacting Customer Care;
selected Travel Extras available for purchase/redemption on the ‘Manage Booking’ section of cathaypacific.com or Cathay’s mobile application; and
selected Travel Extras available for purchase by contacting Customer Care or during check-in at the airport.
The proportion of Miles to cash required to pay/redeem for flight tickets and Travel Extras when using Miles Plus Cash is determined solely by Cathay Pacific and is subject to change by Cathay Pacific from time to time at its sole discretion. Cathay Pacific reserves the right to change the price of airfare, number of Miles required to redeem and / or the amount of cash required to pay for the cash portion of the flight ticket or relevant Travel Extras, or impose additional restrictions from time to time.
Refunds for flight tickets and Travel Extras paid/redeemed for with Miles Plus Cash will be made according to the applicable fare rules and terms and conditions. Cancellations fees and any part of the ticket booking and/or Travel Extras you have used/travelled on, if applicable, will be deducted from the amount paid in cash first and any residual amount still due will then be deducted from the amount paid by Miles (at the same rate of Miles used to redeem), subject to clause 28(f). The remaining amount after such deduction for cancellation fees and any part of the ticket booking and/or Travel Extras you have used/travelled on will be refunded in the remaining Miles and/or cash used to pay/redeem for the booking. Any refunded Miles will be returned to your Cathay Membership Programme membership account.
If you have purchased/redeemed for more than a single flight ticket and Travel Extras in a single transaction using Miles Plus Cash, the number of Miles and amount of cash used to pay/redeem such tickets and Travel Extras will be counted in proportion to the price of each ticket and Travel Extras purchased when Cathay Pacific makes the deductions and refunds as set out in clause 28(e).
Miles Plus Cash is not available for paying/redeeming Miles for settling fuel surcharges, taxes, cancellation or change fees/penalties, applicable fare difference following a change in ticket booking, administrative fees or other miscellaneous charges. All fuel surcharges, taxes, cancellation or change fees/penalties, any applicable fare difference following a change in ticket booking, administrative fees or other miscellaneous charges must be paid in cash only.
Cathay Pacific reserves the right to add, cease or amend any promotional or special offers in relation to Miles Plus Cash at any time without notice to you, unless required by applicable law.
In the event of any discrepancy between the English version and any translated version of these terms and conditions, the English version shall prevail.

In case of any dispute arising out of these terms and conditions, the decision of Cathay Pacific shall be final and conclusive.
