    Bookable Upgrades make it possible to upgrade to the next cabin class. That brings you more space and comfort in Premium Economy, fine dining and award-winning seats in Business, or extraordinary service and luxury in First class.All requests must be made online at least 2 hours before the scheduled flight departure time.

    To streamline the use of your Bookable Upgrade, we have digitalised the request at airport check-in. Simply submit your Bookable Upgrade request online through mid-status benefits summary page at least 2 hours before the scheduled flight departure time. This digital feature will be available from 2pm HKT on 27 August 2024. To prepare for this system upgrade, request at the airport check-in counter will no longer be available on flights departing after 12nn HKT on 26 August 2024.

    All of your benefits, including the number of Status Points and Asia Miles earned, are based on your upgraded cabin class – a perk unique to Bookable Upgrades.

    How to earn a Bookable Upgrade

    This mid-status benefit is exclusive to Cathay Gold and Diamond members. Once you reach your Status Points milestone, four Bookable Upgrades will be automatically added to your account.

    Extension of Bookable Upgrades

    For more flexibility, we're now further extending unused Bookable Upgrades for a 6-month validity - applicable to those expired between April and July 2024 and set to expire between August and December 2024.

    The arrangement will be as follows.

    How to claim your Bookable Upgrade

    Before you book, visit our Upgrade availability checker page to check the availability of bookable upgrades* for your Cathay Pacific direct flights up to 180 days in advance.

    To be eligible for this benefit, please make sure your confirmed flight booking is one of the following fare types:

    • Business Flex (J, C), Business Essential (D, P) or Business Light (I)
    • Premium Economy Flex (W, R)
    • Economy Flex or Economy Essential (any fare class)

    *Bookable upgrades are subject to seat availability, applicable flight distances, and certain fare restrictions at the time of requesting an upgrade.

    You can make an online request at least 2 hours before your flight departure. To do so, sign in to your Cathay account, visit “My credited rewards” on your profile and claim your Bookable Upgrade. You’ll be redirected to “Manage booking”, where you can select the relevant passenger and flight sector.

    Once the upgrade has been requested, the passenger’s flight details will automatically be updated under ‘Manage Booking.’ You can also visit your mid-status benefits summary page for the latest status. Please check in online or at the airport counter for the upgraded flight.

    If you submit your upgrade request more than 4 days before the scheduled flight departure time, you will be informed of the outcome of your request upon submission.

    • If your upgrade request is confirmed, our Customer Care will email you within 72 hours.
    • If the request status of your upgrade is pending, you can cancel the request up to 4 days before the scheduled flight departure time. We will return the Bookable Upgrade in your account immediately.
    • At times when we are unable to confirm your upgrade 4 days before the scheduled flight departure time, we will register your upgrade request in the check-in system. Please refer to the clause below for details on how it works: If we are unable to confirm your upgrade 4 days before the scheduled flight departure time, or you submit your upgrade request within 4 days and up to 2 hours before the scheduled flight departure time.
      1. We will register your upgrade request in the check-in system.
      2. If your upgrade is confirmed, online check-in and mobile boarding pass (if applicable) will automatically update to reflect your new seat. Alternatively, we will inform you at the check-in counter, or you may check with the lounge reception team prior to leaving the lounge.
      3. To ensure we’re able to meet the needs of all eligible members on a flight, at times we may need to action the upgrades up until prior to boarding.
      4. If your upgrade request is unsuccessful, we will return the Bookable Upgrade in your account within 3 days of flight departure. The expiry date of the Bookable Upgrade will remain the same.
      5. Status Points and Asia Miles will be credited based on original booked class after your flight. Please allow up to one month after your flight to receive the extra Status Points and Asia Miles.

    If you are travelling with a child under 12, an infant, or if you need in-flight services or medical assistance, please contact our Customer Care team for further information before you make your Bookable Upgrade request.

    How to change or cancel a Bookable Upgrade

    1. If the request status of your upgrade is pending, you can cancel the request up to 4 days before the scheduled flight departure time. The Bookable Upgrade will be returned in your account instantly. The expiry date of the Bookable Upgrade will remain the same.
    2. If the request status of your upgrade is confirmed, first confirm the booking for the flight sector you would like to change the benefit to, then contact Customer Care at least 4 days before your flight departure. Cancelling the benefit will also cancel the confirmed flight booking.
    3. Once you have submitted your request, a representative from our service centre will email you with the result within 72 hours.
    1. Members eligible for Bookable Upgrades may claim the Bookable Upgrade online by submitting a Bookable Upgrade request form.
    2. Bookable Upgrades are subject to availability.
    3. Bookable upgrade is limited to CPA ticket and its ticket number should begin with ‘160’ only.
    4. 4 Bookable Upgrade sectors will be awarded to Gold Members with 1,000 Status Points or more.
    5. 4 Bookable Upgrade sectors will be awarded to Diamond Members with 1,600 Status Points or more.
    6. Bookable Upgrades for Gold Members are available for ultra-short, short, and medium-haul flights.
    7. Bookable Upgrades for Diamond Members are available for all flight distances.
    8. Bookable Upgrades for Gold members are applicable to Members or their travel companions on flights operated and marketed by CPA.
    9. Bookable Upgrades for Diamond Members are applicable to Members, their travel companions, or their Redemption Group Nominees on flights operated and marketed by CPA.
    10. Each Bookable Upgrade allows one passenger to upgrade to one cabin class above the current booking for one sector.
    11. Travel benefits, Status Points and Asia Miles will be based on the next cabin class once the Bookable Upgrade is successfully claimed up to 4 days before the scheduled flight departure time. If your upgrade request is confirmed within 4 days of the scheduled flight departure time, Status Points and Asia Miles will be credited based on original booked class after your flight. Please allow up to one month after your flight to receive the extra Status Points and Asia Miles.
    12. Travel companions for Bookable Upgrades are guests travelling with the Member under the same booking.
    13. Each Bookable Upgrade is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Please note, if you are applying for flights departing later than your Bookable Upgrade’s expiry, the Bookable Upgrade will become non-refundable after the expiry date.
    14. Requested flight must have confirmed booking and ticket issued on eligible fare classes.
    15. Redemption Group Nominees may enjoy Bookable Upgrades without travelling together with the Member.
    16. Subject to seat availability, Economy fare types Essential and Flex, or Economy fare class Y, B, H, K, M, L and V will be upgraded to Premium Economy fare class E. The Economy Light fare tickets are not eligible for Bookable Upgrades. If Premium Economy Cabin is not available on the flight, the ticket will be upgraded to Business Class fare class I.
    17. Subject to seat availability, Premium Economy fare types Flex or Premium Economy fare classes W and R will be upgraded to Business Class fare class I. The Premium Economy Essential fare tickets are not eligible for Bookable Upgrades.
    18. Subject to seat availability, Business fare types Light, Essential Flex or Business Class fare classes J, C, D, P and I will be upgraded to First Class fare class A.
    19. Bookable Upgrades are not eligible for use in conjunction with Asia Miles flight upgrades and companion awards.
    20. No wait list is allowed for Bookable Upgrades.
    21. A Bookable Upgrade is subject to applicable taxes and other surcharges.
    22. Bookable Upgrade entitlements are status specific and are not available to Members on Membership Holiday.
    23. Requests, changes and cancellations must be made 4 to 360 days before the flight departure date.
    24. Cancelling a Bookable Upgrade will also cancel the confirmed ticket booking.
    25. More than one Bookable Upgrade request for the same flight sector is not allowed.
    26. Any rebooking or change of date will be governed by the terms and conditions of the original class ticket.
    27. Not available for redemption, prize, group, ID/AD (industry/agency) discounts or other free tickets.
    28. Member can check the distance zones on our Website.
    29. The Cathay Membership Programme terms and conditions apply. All matters and disputes relating to this benefit will be subject to the final decision of AML.
