I was highly anticipating my first encounter with the Momax 1-Sense Multi-Functional Health Tracking Smart Ring. The idea of a device that could log key metrics throughout the day felt like a seamless tech solution. True to form, the ring is comfortable and easy to use as it’s a lightweight, ultra-thin device weighing just 4.5g, and measuring 2.4mm wide. Over several weeks, I experienced no irritation, even with regular hand washing, showering and swimming. Both the ring and the Momax Sense App are intuitive, and setup is hassle-free.
The app’s home page displays key stats including heart rate, blood oxygen and skin temperature, the previous night’s sleep duration and daily calorie burn – plus an overall health score. The sleep section offers a breakdown of deep sleep, light sleep, and REM sleep as well as breath quality, resting heart rate and heart rate variability during sleep. The fitness tab charts your step count, distance covered, and calories burned, while the “Me” section includes an SOS setting and Smart Touch feature. The latter lets you play music, take photos or videos, turn pages, present slides, or like videos.
Unfortunately, the sleep statistics are occasionally inaccurate. One evening, I took the ring off after arriving home, only to put it back on again before going to bed. The next morning, I saw that the app had started recording my sleep when I first took the ring off. Another time, after briefly waking in the middle of the night, I returned to bed – but my sleep recording ended when I first got up.
One of the reasons I wanted to test a fitness tracker was to see try different workouts and gauge their effectiveness based on real-time data. But this ring only tracks mileage, duration and calories burned for runs, walks and bike rides. It would be more useful if the ring could track metrics like calories burned and heart rate for a wider range of activities, such as Pilates, yoga and swimming.

While the ring is certainly an effortless wearable that delivers plenty of useful intel, there are some areas where data accuracy could be improved. That said, I received compliments on its minimalist yet striking silhouette – often without the other person realising it was a smart ring. As a piece of multifunctional technology that doubles as jewellery, this might just be the item you didn’t know you needed.
If you’re considering this ring and want to ensure the perfect fit, the brand’s Smart Ring Sizing Kit is a great starting point, offering sizes 7 to 13 with precise diameter and circumference measurements.
