Before travelling into Hong Kong, all travellers are required to submit a health declaration form. After submitting this online form, the system will generate a QR code. Please save this and show it to the border control staff upon entering Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). The QR code is valid for 48 hours upon creation for arrivals into HKIA, and for 24 hours when transiting.

Passengers who have stayed in or transited through New Zaleand in the past 21 days must undergo 21-day quarantine in a designated quarantine hotel. As above, you will need to present confirmation of your hotel reservation to border staff.

You will then need to undergo some COVID tests during quarantine.

In terms of transiting via Hong Kong for overseas travel, each government has their own entry requirements depending on your final destination. Please check the government website of your final destination, to see the requirements for travelling into that destination and via Hong Kong. You will still need to submit the Hong Kong health declaration form as above.

PCR test requirements for entry into Hong Kong

As part of its ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hong Kong SAR government has introduced additional entry requirements for all passengers ending their journey in Hong Kong.

For your upcoming flight, in addition to meeting the existing Hong Kong entry requirements you will also be required to have:

  • A negative PCR nucleic acid COVID-19 test result. Please ensure that the sample for your test was taken within 48 hours of the scheduled departure time and that your name on the test result is identical to your passport or Hong Kong Identity Card.
  • Proof that the laboratory is ISO 15189 accredited or approved by the government of the cou

A: This depends on where you are departing from in New Zealand, as we service both Christchurch (seasonally) and Auckland. Auckland to Hong Kong flight time is 11h 40m,  Christchurch to Hong Kong is approx. 11h 30m. 

A: Cathay Pacific flies to a range of destinations across Europe, from London to Paris and Amsterdam. Due to government restrictions on travel due to COVID-19, our current network has been reduced. We are working to open up more destinations as the world opens up and travel from New Zealand resumes. A: Current travel alerts and restrictions remain dynamic for international travel from New Zealand. Quarantine requirements differ with certain countries, and managed isolation and quarantine in New Zealand has strict procedures.
