What’s the deal?

Opened in 1885, the Eastern & Oriental Hotel is the only five-star property along the waterfront of George Town Penang. The historic hotel strikes a fine balance between tradition and modernity, while its oldest elements are well-preserved. These include the lobby’s “echo dome” ceiling, vintage manually operated lifts, and historic artwork and photography.
