Travel documents, visas and travel declarations

Make sure you travel with a valid passport or travel document, obtain any relevant visas and complete the necessary travel declaration so you can have an enjoyable trip.

Travel documents

All passengers, including children and infants under two years of age need their own passport or valid travel document. This document must be valid during your travel period. Many countries/regions additionally require that a passport is valid for 3 or 6 months beyond the end of your trip. Processing times for passports vary but many countries offer fast-track applications.

Visas

You may need a visa in order to enter your chosen destination, depending on:

  • your nationality
  • the purpose of your trip
  • your connecting flights

If a visa is required for your trip to a certain country/region, you can apply directly at a consular office of that country/region. Many countries/regions also offer an online application process.

All Indian passport holders are required to carry a printed hard copy of their foreign e-visa. This document is required for immigration clearance.

The Government of India has introduced the Fast Track Immigration - Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) to provide a faster and more convenient immigration process at select international airports. FTI-TTP allows registered Indian nationals and OCI card holders to use automated border control e-gates for immigration clearance.
