We spoke to Amily Park, a flight attendant with Cathay Pacific, about her fascination with Bellagio.

“As much as I love Milan, I’m also drawn to the small, laid-back towns that lie beyond the city. On my last trip, I travelled an hour north to Lake Como, where I spent aperfect day wandering around the beautiful village of Bellagio. It’s a place where time moves slowly and people are always friendly,” she says.

Below, she shares her top tips on what to do in Bellagio from where to eat and things to pack.

    Must-do

Bellagio has many charming cafés – a good thing, as after landing in Milan, hopping on a train to Varenna and boarding a ferry to Bellagio all in one morning, I was ready for a coffee. Once I’d ordered my espresso topped with whipped cream, I simply sat back and allowed myself to soak up the stunning view of Lake Como.

    Must-eat

Apart from enjoying the views, my main goal in Bellagio was to eat gelato. I kept thinking about it during the 12-hour flight to Milan, telling myself: “almost there”. After asking a few people in the village where to find the best gelato, I was directed to the Gelateria del Borgo . I ordered a scoop of lemon and another of berry; they tasted every bit as delicious as I’d hoped.

    Must-pack

I suggest bringing a neck cushion for the train journey from Milan to Varenna. It’s a good opportunity to rest if you’re still recovering from your long flight. Plus, adding a little extra comfort wherever you can makes every trip more enjoyable.
