Every journey can be a cultural exchange. We’ve partnered with the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation to launch Cathay Young Explorers, an annual programme devoted to broadening the horizons of young people in our home city of Hong Kong through unique travel opportunities.

Reconnecting with heritage
This programme features thoughtfully designed tours that foster a deeper understanding of China’s vibrant culture and history. Through visits to important heritage sites in the Chinese Mainland, our Young Explorers are immersed in cultural encounters and aviation-themed learning experiences that offer insights into the nation’s past, present and future.
Adventures along the Silk Road
Our inaugural Cathay Young Explorers tour in August 2025 brought 30 students from Hong Kong to Urumqi, Turpan and Chengdu, introducing them to the key Silk Road hubs of Western China. The second edition in April 2026 took place across Urumqi, Yining and Xi’an, where students discovered the region’s rich history and enduring cultural significance.
