Choose an indulgent dim sum set at one Michelin-starred Duddell’s , where bamboo steamers filled with goldfish-shaped shrimp dumplings and crispy lava sesame balls are on the Chinese New Year celebration menu. Pick from six- or eight-course sets for a journey through sauteed lobster, abalone and imperial bird’s nest. Warm yourself with a bowl of double-boiled chicken soup stewed with fish maw and ginseng, before moving onto showstoppers like Yoshihama abalone and a tender braised pork knuckle served with semi-dried oysters. Naturally, every set ends with nin gou, a traditional New Year’s sticky rice cake. To take home the magic, there’s also ready-to-cook poon choi takeaway hampers with braised sea cucumber, meatballs with black moss and South African abalone.

Spice things up with a Sichuanese feast at Michelin-recommended Chilli Fagara , where decadent seasonal dishes include a succulent peppery lobster tail, mala spiced and roasted to perfection, and a family-style Chinese Shaoxing drunken chicken casserole. Enticing ingredients like abalone, jasmine tea leaves and gingko nuts elevate dishes on the Lunar New Year menu, available until 5 February. Want to celebrate at home instead? It’s abalone galore at Yat Tung Heen , which ticks all the boxes for dining out and entertaining at home with a festive set menu and a takeaway hamper. Until 5 February, the Michelin-starred restaurant is serving nine special dishes, including a bird’s nest soup brimming with seafood, braised abalone with black mushrooms, and a steamed leopard coral garoupa glazed with superior soy sauce – and you’ll want to add the signature char siu to your order as well. To make a splash at-home, pick up a surf-and-turf hamper stuffed with abalone, fish maw, roasted goose and more, or order from the special clay pot takeaway menu. Lobster e-fu noodles, anybody?

Fragrant, crispy chicken fried in lychee wood and barbecued Iberico pork are just two of the mouth-watering options featured among Sing Yin’s indulgent Chinese New Year banquet sets. Until February 5, the W Hong Kong restaurant’s menu includes lunch and dinner sets assembled by head chef Simon Wong. Expect quality seafood, such as king prawns braised in Italian tomatoes and steamed garoupa, with a braised abalone dish in keeping with tradition. For something lighter, Woobar has also revamped its famed afternoon tea sets for the festivities, adding Asian flavours such as red bean and lemongrass to its picture-perfect stands.

Toast to the new year at Ming Court with a champagne brunch. Drunken abalone and jellyfish appetisers give way to delights like baked turnip pastries stuffed with Yunnan ham and garoupa steamed with peppercorns and supreme soy sauce – plus two glasses of Delamotte champagne. For an extra sense of occasion, there’s a one-night-only evening banquet on 21 January, which pulls out all the stops with deep-fried tiger prawns served with homemade buns, minced pigeon served on a bed of marinated mushrooms and asparagus, and a range of desserts, including a pan-fried water chestnut pudding and red date soup.

Soho’s coolest Cantonese restaurant combines traditional Chinese New Year classics with some new additions on their Kung Hei Fat Choy set menu. Kick things off with the creamy sea urchin-topped steamed egg custard and cute goldfish dumplings before diving right into a classic double-steamed broth filled with black chicken, dried scallops and aged ham. Wok-fried courses shine here, especially on dishes like the Australian Wagyu beef tossed with chillies and leeks alongside a lotus leaf-wrapped rice dumpling filled with mushrooms. The restaurant’s famous charcoal-grilled char siu features on the menu, and there’s a sesame Tong Yuen dessert soup to finish.

The American burger joint spices things up with a new Hot Honey menu, which is built around sweet and spicy flavours and available until February 26. Shake Shack’s classic Chicken Shack burger gets a festive makeover with a fiery honey glaze – also served as a dipping sauce for the Hot Honey chicken bites. Anybody who orders either of the Hot Honey dishes will also be given Shake Shack-themed lai see packets – sure to put a grin on any burger lover’s face.
