Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA)

Learn more about arrivals, departures and transits through Hong Kong International Airport, as well as connecting to the Greater Bay Area.

Departure from Hong Kong

We recommend arriving at the airport at least two hours in advance of your flight to give you sufficient time to check in, go through security, and get to your gate. For a seamless travel experience, we offer a few convenient ways for you to check in.

Starting on 6 June, full self-service check-in and bag drop will be available daily at Kowloon station from 6.00am to 3.00pm. Self-service facilities are also available at Hong Kong station from 6.00am to 11.00pm to provide a more efficient in-town bag drop experience.

In-town check-in

If you’re taking the Airport Express to Hong Kong International Airport, you can take advantage of our in-town self-service check-in and bag drop facilities. Our ambassadors will be onsite to provide assistance if you require help during the self-service process.

At Hong Kong station and Kowloon station, you can drop off your bags once you complete your online check-in as early as 24 hours in advance and up to 90 minutes before your scheduled flight departure time during service hours. Please use the self-service kiosks to print your baggage tag and proceed to the self-service bag drop machines. Note: that the maximum size of a check-in baggage that can be accepted is 145 x 100 x 85 cm

Please note self-service check-in and bag-drop are only available for passengers holding valid electronic travel documents. Note: our in-town check-in locations are unable to process bookings with infants, upgrades, instant redemption of excess baggage and extra leg room seats, group and agency bookings, and special services.*
