Visually impaired passengers
Travelling with a visual impairment
If you are travelling on a Cathay Pacific flight and have a service dog that you wish to travel alongside you, please contact your local reservations office. You can also find out more in our service animals section.
If you use a cane or other assistive device you may carry it onto the plane provided it can be stowed under your seat or in the overhead compartment. When placing the cane under your seat, lie it flat on the floor making sure it does not block any emergency exit or stick out into the aisle.
Our cabin crew will be pleased to assist you to load and retrieve your cane if it is not collapsible or if it cannot be stowed under your seat. All such assistive devices will be carried free of charge.
Assistance for visually impaired passengers
We are pleased to offer the following assistance for visually impaired passengers:
- Meet and assist service to escort you to and from the aircraft
- Individual safety briefings
- Priority boarding
- Assistance inflight in moving to and from your seat
- Our cabin crew can read the menu to you prior to meal service and explain where all the food is placed on your tray
We’re progressively shifting from a weight allowance to a piece allowance policy. Your baggage allowance is listed on your ticket itinerary and in Manage Booking.
Note: If your flight class was upgraded with Upgrade Bid, your baggage allowance is still based on your original ticket allowance.
