Most stylish hotel: The Peninsula Hong Kong

The Peninsula Hong Kong has been a beacon of luxury and style since its opening in 1928, earning it the title "Grande Dame of the Far East." A fleet of Rolls-Royces in the hotel's signature green set the tone for your stay, while inside, guests are welcomed by a majestic lobby with vaulted ceilings and ornate cornicing. The rooms and restaurants are equally as elegant – as is the swimming pool, complete with wide marble columns.

What our panellist says: “Old-school style is the name of the game at ‘The Pen’ – from the refined rooms to the colonnaded swimming pool.” –  Adam White, travel editor and Cathay Members’ Choice Awards 2024 panellist.

    Most sustainable hotel: Janu Tokyo

For eco-conscious travellers seeking luxury, there’s nowhere quite like Janu Tokyo . The hotel may have only recently opened its doors, but already it’s making waves in the travel industry. Why? Janu Tokyo goes well beyond eco-friendly toothbrushes and razors (though it has those, too) by partnering with local artisans, using renewable energy and recycling used water and organic waste. The hotel also sources the majority of its ingredients from local suppliers and adopts kitchen techniques designed to minimise food waste. Oh, and it’s located in Asabudai Hills, a Tokyo neighbourhood powered entirely by renewable energy.

What our panellist says: “Janu Tokyo isn’t just sustainable in itself: it’s in the heart of the Azabudai Hills, which uses 100 per cent renewable electricity.” –  Dr Brian Chan, Cathay Diamond member and Cathay Members’ Choice Awards 2024 panellist.
