One of the world’s most exciting new luxury hotel brands, Edition is a collaboration between hotel mogul (and Studio 54 co-founder) Ian Schrager and Marriott Hotels. With 17 hotels around the world and many more in the pipeline, the new 204-room Singapore property is Edition’s first foray into South East Asia.
Each Edition property is defined by its sense of place, and in a jungle-dense city like Singapore, interior designers Cap Atelier went with a biophilic design. Think lofty ceilings, elegant white curves and an abundance of lush foliage spilling out of every nook. There’s no gilded lobby or crystal chandelier here; the vibe is more like your coolest friend’s penthouse apartment – welcoming and relaxed but totally stylish.
The rooms themselves are soothingly minimalist, with wooden floors underfoot, beautiful lighting and a sumptuous free-standing bathtub, complete with Le Labo toiletries. With all the mod-cons, minus the clutter, they offer just the respite needed after a long, hot day exploring Singapore’s myriad attractions.
Edition is also the home of Singapore’s hottest new restaurant: Fysh at Edition . Helmed by acclaimed Australian chef and restaurateur Josh Niland, Fysh is a scale-to-tail seafood restaurant that aims to use every part of the fish to reduce waste. Think noodles made of finely-ground fishbones, or even Valrhona macarons with fish eye ice cream. Plus: the restaurant’s semi-buffet breakfast features one of the prettiest grazing tables we’ve ever seen.
“There’s not one, not two, but three bars worthy of your attention: the Punch Room is a blue velvet below-ground bar that celebrates punch – that underrated tipple – in all its forms. Or, you can rack and crack ’em at the hot pink pool table in the Lobby Bar; its cocktail menu explores the world of fragrance, using ingredients such as bergamot, tuberose and ylang ylang to elevate your favourite beverages. Alternatively, head to the rooftop poolside bar for a sundowner and a light bite.”
