Ask the crew: flight attendant Lean Caraan on San Francisco

I’ve only been to San Francisco once, but I can’t wait to go back. I remember first seeing it in The Princess Diaries, and when I got to go there, I was like, “Oh my god.”

Must-do

San Francisco is very photogenic, with tons of stunning views. There are these beautiful colourful houses lining Steiner Street called The Painted Ladies ; the Palace of Fine Arts monument is so Instagrammable; and of course, the Golden Gate Bridge is amazing. If you have the patience for crowds, ride the iconic cable car to the end station, where there’s a machine that turns it around. Hold onto the car, look outside, feel the breeze, and have your main character moment. 

Must-eat

I went to Boudin Bakery at the Pier 39 market, and had this lovely soup served in a bread bowl. There is a beautiful view of the coast, including the sea lions that live there.  

Must-pack 

Comfortable shoes are essential because there’s a lot of walking when you’re visiting San Francisco. However, sometimes public transport is advisable: I decided to walk up one of the steep hills instead of taking the cable car and I was like, “Why did I do this to myself?”
