The best things to do in Hong Kong this October 

October in Hong Kong is a month of dazzling contrasts: fireworks bursting over Victoria Harbour, cartoon villains taking over Hong Kong Disneyland and ghosts roaming Ocean Park Hong Kong. Whether you’re chasing thrills, culture or culinary delights, the city’s events lineup serves it all this season.

1. Halloween celebrations 

Hong Kong’s theme parks go all‑out for Halloween, delivering unforgettable thrills and chills. At Party Like a Villain at Disney Halloween Time , which runs until 1 November, Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella lead villainous parades, musicals and poolside parties. Ocean Park Hong Kong Halloween Fest cranks up the energy with haunted castles, cosplay parties, boyband demons and roaming ghosts, while Ocean Night Wonders offers a gentler adventure, where you can set up your Halloween-themed tent and explore the Grand Aquarium all night long.

2. 2026 National Day Fireworks Display   

National Day is heralded by one of Hong Kong's iconic spectacles: a 23‑minute fireworks display over Victoria Harbour. At 8pm on 1 October, bursts of colour transform the skyline into a dazzling theatre of light. While you can admire the fireworks from a range of locations, including Central and Wan Chai, Tsim Sha Tsui’s Regent Hong Kong is one of the prime spots to take it all in. Book a Harbourview Suite or Premium Harbourview Room, reserve a table at one of the property’s acclaimed restaurants, or secure a private dining venue with terrace access for a front-row vantage point looking towards Hong Kong Island.  

3. Art encounters at Upper House

From 9-11 October, Upper House Hong Kong unveils Within , an immersive theatre production developed with creative studio One Hundred. The Hong Kong edition, The Dreamer, invites guests on a journey to a peaceful sanctuary, blending movement, light and sound into a multi‑sensory experience. Complimentary 20‑minute sessions are available for reservation. Rooted in Upper House’s spirit of hospitality and cultural exchange, Within offers guests a fresh way to connect with creativity and discovery.

4. Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo (HKPAX) 2026 

Themed “Passion in Motion”, the second edition of HKPAX runs from 9-13 October, and we’re proud to be this event’s Official Carrier. Across 13 venues, audiences can enjoy an international showcase of theatre, dance, music and Chinese opera from over 80 countries. The programme also features pitch sessions for new projects, with Hong Kong Chapter spotlighting local artistry, collaboration through conversations, networking mixers and exhibitions, alongside free public events that create a shared cultural celebration for the city.  

5. Hong Kong China International Tattoo Exhibition 2026 

From 16-18 October, Soho House hosts over 60 tattoo artists at the Hong Kong China International Tattoo Exhibition 2026 . International masters showcase live artwork, thrilling contests and personalised designs. There’s plenty of entertainment and culinary fare as well, with DJ Fergus spinning remixes, live guitar sets by Just Play the Guitar and 1208 Studio, and special menus crafted by chef Ramsey Wong. Don’t miss the limited‑edition “2026 CHIBI” tee by tattoo artist Meow Meow – a collector’s gem. 

6. Pici Pasta Run 2026 

Pici Pasta Run , Hong Kong’s most delicious charity run, is back on 25 October. It returns bigger than ever, scaling up to welcome a record-breaking 1,000 participants. Choose between a 10km full run from Kennedy Town or a 5km half run from Causeway Bay, both ending at Quarry Bay for a carb‑fuelled celebration. Expect costumes, handmade pasta, drinks, desserts and prizes — with 100 per cent of proceeds going towards Mind HK’s mental health initiatives. 

7. Pink Walk 2026  

On 25 October, join the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation’s Pink Walk 2026 at The Peak. Covering 3.5km, the charity walk raises awareness and funds for breast cancer screening and patient support. Dress in creative pink outfits to compete for best-dressed awards — categories include individuals, children aged ten and below, groups and even pets. No getup is complete without a little sparkle, and all attendees can get their fix at the on-site face painting booth.

8. Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival  

Raise a glass at the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival , organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. Between 29 October and 1 November, sip on a wide array of wines, discover Hong Kong’s diverse culinary scene and enjoy live performances from jazz and classical musicians. With masterclasses by chefs and sommeliers, family activities and interactive workshops, it’s a celebration set against the glittering skyline at Central Harbourfront Event Space.
