Perched at the point where the Pearl River meets the South China Sea and bordering Macao, Zhuhai offers travellers maritime-themed manmade sights, a vibrant seafood scene, and plenty of entertainment – from theme parks to hot springs.

Eager to discover this seaside city in the Greater Bay Area? You can connect to Zhuhai easily via the SkyPier Terminal at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) – it’s only a 45-minute journey by coach, and the trip over the 55-kilometre Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) is an experience in itself. When you fly into HKIA and transfer directly to Zhuhai, you’ll enjoy the convenience of not having to go through immigration in Hong Kong or transport your baggage long distances. Other benefits include a dedicated immigration lane upon arriving in Zhuhai Port.

Here's everything you need to know about taking the SkyPier Terminal transfer coach from HKIA to HZMB Zhuhai Port (and if you’re travelling back again, you can find more helpful information here).

    1. Arriving at Hong Kong International Airport

After you land in Hong Kong, skip immigration and follow the overhead signs to Mainland/Macao and Transfer Area E2. That’s where you’ll find the transfer coach ticketing desks to get your ticket to Zhuhai.

Alternatively, before you fly, you can book Cathay Pacific's Direct Air+Land flight and coach transfer through our website.* Your tickets will be conveniently combined into a single booking.

    2. Mainland/Macao connection via the SkyPier Terminal Transfer Coach Service

There’s a tall brown lightbox labelled “SkyPier Terminal Transfer Coach Service”, which lists important information like the coach timetable and the first and last departures of the day. Coach transfers run every 60 minutes, though the frequency may increase if there’s an uptick in passengers.

To get your ticket, join the Zhuhai queue at the ticketing desk – this is separate from the Macao queue. A representative of the coach operator Zhuhai HK Airport Direct will ask if you have a combined flight and coach booking ticket. If so, you’ll need to show your travel documents, flight ticket and baggage tag receipt (sometimes attached to your boarding pass). Then, they’ll help you print your ticket and transfer any checked bags you have to the SkyPier Terminal, which is where you’ll collect your bags before boarding the coach.

The representative will also provide you with a sticker that shows you’re Zhuhai-bound –display it somewhere prominent to help the SkyPier team differentiate you from the Macao-bound passengers.

If you haven't made a coach booking, you can pay for a ticket for the next available coach now with cash, or by credit card, WeChat Pay or Alipay. An additional fee will be charged if you have more than one piece of checked baggage or if it exceeds the weight or size limit.

Please note that only same-day transfers are allowed – this means your coach must depart on the same date your flight arrives in Hong Kong. If you’re planning to make a combined flight and coach booking, allow for sufficient time to catch the coach after landing at the airport.

    3. Catch the train to the SkyPier Terminal

At the gate signposted as “Coach Ferry Boarding”, scan your coach ticket and take the escalator down to the Automated People Mover (APM), which will bring you to the SkyPier Terminal.

You won’t be able to return to the airport terminal beyond this point, so make sure you’ve finished your souvenir shopping before you board.

    4. SkyPier Terminal

A two-minute train ride later, alight at the SkyPier Terminal. Facilities in the waiting area include washrooms, water dispensers, charging stations, a currency exchange booth and a convenience store.

Follow the overhead sign labelled “Baggage Reclaim” to retrieve your checked bags. SkyPier Terminal staff will help you unload them from the carousel before leaving you to relax in the waiting area until your coach departure is announced.

    5. Board the coach

Show or scan your coach ticket at the boarding gates and head upstairs to the pick-up bay. Stow your bags in the coach storage area before you board, then grab a seat and get ready to enjoy the all-around sea views the HZMB affords as it brings you across the Pearl River estuary.

    6. Arriving in Zhuhai

After arriving at the Zhuhai Port of the HZMB, staff will help unload passengers’ bags from the coach. Then, they’ll escort everyone to the Arrivals Hall, conveniently located next to the drop-off bay.

    7. Immigration

Before lining up at the dedicated immigration lane for “Inbound passengers from HKIA”, foreign passport holders will first have to fill in an arrival card. If you’re between the ages of 14 and 70, you’ll also need to record your fingerprints at a nearby labelled row of machines.

After Immigration is Customs, where you’ll send your bags through baggage scanners. Then, you can exit the arrivals area.

    8. Connections to the city

Overhead signs at the exit indicate the transport options for connecting you to the rest of Zhuhai. Follow them to get to the bus terminal, taxi stand or pick-up area for ride-hailing services. Outside the lobby you’ll also find a handful of dining options as well as a tourist information centre.

*Direct Air+Land is available for selected routes on our website. For regions where this service is not available, please make your booking via a travel agent. If you're departing from Taiwan China, please purchase your coach tickets separately. We’ll arrange your bags to be checked through when you check in at your departing airport.
