Changes, cancellation and refund

Yes, you can change your bookings online (Note 1,2,3) for tickets booked on Cathay Pacific website with journeys commencing from Africa, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, Mainland China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong SAR(Note 4), India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Peru, Republic of Ireland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, the USA, U. A. Emirates, United Kingdom, Taiwan China, Thailand and Vietnam.

Note 1: In case of system error, please contact our Reservations Office for assistance. 

Note 2: Rebooking may not be allowed, or may incur additional fees, subject to the fare rules of your ticket.

Note 3: Changes of date and/or flight can be made for itinerary involving the same routes and cabin class without en-route stops. For instance, itinerary departs from Taipei to Osaka, and returns from Tokyo to Taipei, is not eligible for online booking changes.

Note 4: Changes cannot be made for journeys commencing from Hong Kong but paid in Renminbi.

We currently only support bookings made on Cathay Pacific website. For tickets purchased via travel agents or Cathay Pacific Reservations Office, please contact our Reservations Office for assistance.

 

You can make changes to your bookings provided that your Cathay Pacific flights are booked on our website.

 

Passengers under the same booking are required to change dates and/or flights together when changing flight bookings online.

 

You are required to cancel the check-in via Manage My Booking before you make any changes to your bookings online.

 

You can make changes via Manage My Booking if your bookings are made on our website. A “Change Booking” button will appear under your booking details once our system verifies your eligibility.

 

This happens when the booking in question is not eligible for changes online. You may contact Cathay Pacific Reservations Office for assistance.

In accordance with the fare rules of your ticket, you may reserve your preferred seats free of charge (except for Reserve Your Seat products) when changing bookings. Alternatively, customers can reserve their seats via Manage My Booking. For details, please refer to "Manage Booking - Seat Request" section of Frequently Asked Questions. To understand more about Reserve Your Seat, please refer to "Reserve Your Seat" product page.

 

You can make meal requests via Manage My Booking. For details, please refer to “Manage Booking – Special Meal/Services Requests” section of Frequently Asked Questions.

 

You can pay for the changes for another passenger on condition that the credit card payment must be authenticated by “Verified by Visa” or “MasterCard®SecureCodeTM", or the cardholder will need to present the physical card for verification purpose.

Debit/credit card issued in Mainland China are accepted for journeys commencing from Mainland China.

 

No, you are not required to pay with the same credit card. However, you may be asked to present the physical credit card(s) charged for the tickets for verification purpose upon check-in.

You will receive a confirmation email shortly after you click on the “Confirm Change” or “Confirm Payment” button on the Fare Details and Payment pages.

 

Once you have completed the date and/or time change online successfully, our system will issue a revised e-ticket, which will be sent to the email address provided during the online booking process within an hour. You may then view your bookings online via Manage My Booking.

 

To refund tickets purchased directly from the Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon websites, please complete the refund form online.

Ticket refund request is valid until two years from the time of purchase.

If you purchased your ticket through a travel agent, please contact that travel agent for a refund.

For redemption tickets, please contact Asia Miles.

For other ticket enquiries, please call our Global Contact Centres, or your nearest Cathay Pacific office.

When you have changed the date and time on your flight booking online, a partial refund (does not equate to the cost of half round trip) of your original ticket is payable, such residual values will be refunded to the credit card charged. Refund will be in the chosen currency when the previous ticket(s) was purchased.

After deduction of necessary cancellation charges, the residual amount will be processed in (counted from the day of receipt of the refund request):

  • 7 working days for credit card and PayPal transactions
  • 20 calendar days for other forms of payment such as cash, bank transfer, Ideal, etc. 

Please note the above time is the processing time required within Cathay Pacific. Time required for the actual refund to reach cardholder’s account will depend on individual banks.

Also, the above guidelines do not apply to special refund involving service on other airlines.

The refund of the Online Booking Change transaction takes seven working days for tickets involved US sector. Otherwise it will take 20 calendar days.

 

Notwithstanding any contrary booking terms and conditions and/or fare rules, for bookings made 7 days or earlier before departure via the internet on the US site, involving itineraries to/from the US, you can cancel paid reservations within 24 hours after purchase for a full refund in accordance with our refund process set out at Changes, Cancellation and Refund.

The 7-day refund policy of the Taiwan Consumer Protection Act does not apply to bookings made with an international airline company. For ticket changes, cancellation and refund, customers should refer to each booking’s terms and conditions and/or fare rules.

For bookings made 10 days or earlier prior to departure via Korean website ( for itineraries departing from Korea only), you can cancel paid reservations within 7days after purchase for a full refund in accordance with our refund process.
