    What’s the deal?

When hotelier Ian Schrager’s Edition brand launched, it quickly became renowned for its minimalist design. But when it opened in Rome, the Eternal City, there was a question of how its aesthetic philosophy would marry with the famed cobblestones, fountained piazzas, Renaissance façades, and Rococo vibes of its surrounds. The answer is: with aplomb.

The Rome Edition is a rare Roman lifestyle hotel that exudes undoubted modernity. There’s a confidence in its curation that makes the entrance courtyard traditional but cool, the rooms simply wooden adorned but perfectly formed, for a pool table to make complete sense as part of a Roman lobby.

It's the stylish addition that Rome needed, a contemporary hotel that reflects how the city itself is evolving: grounded in tradition but beginning to chart a modern path forward.

    Why stay?

Housed in a former bank built in the 1940s, The Rome Edition is located in a spot that’s both quiet and in the heart of it all, just off the storied Via Veneto. And there are plenty of reasons to check in.

Let’s start with the rooms: beautiful walnut woods reflect the Edition minimalism, but with luxurious throws, beige leathers and striking Italian artwork giving it a distinctive Roman edge.

Then there’s the plethora of dining and entertainment options: Anima, the hotel’s all-day dining destination, does contemporary Italian that focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients; the Punch Room is the Roman iteration of Edition’s signaturebar experience and features a house punch that celebrates 17th-century trade routes; and the Jade Bar is an intimate space of vibrant green marble and spectacular cocktails. But of all of them, it’s The Roof that stands out: an open rooftop with a pool, sunbeds, impeccable drinks and a landscape of cathedral after cathedral.

    Don’t miss

A sunset cocktail aperitivo on the rooftop, by the pool, overlooking the domes of the Eternal City.
