MESM Tokyo (it stands for ‘mesmerise’) is the latest addition to the Autograph Collection’s growing luxury hotel portfolio. The property occupies the 16th up to the 26th floors of the new WATERS Takeshiba building in Hamamatsucho and is designed by Wilson Associates, who translated the dynamic flow of waves and people from the buzzing Takeshiba waterfront into the hotel’s decor, colour palette and artworks.
Rooms fuse contemporary and traditional Japanese design elements while capitalising on sweeping views across Tokyo Bay and the historical Hamarikyu Gardens. Each hosts a bespoke console in its entryway, while other features include standalone powder rooms, collapsible closet cubicles – and for the musically inclined, a Casio Privia digital piano.
At the Chef’s Theatre restaurant, French bistro fare made with fresh Japanese ingredients is served in a dining room inspired by kabuki theatre. For something more casual, guests can relax with cocktails, coffee and small bites at Whisk , focused around a cantilevered marble bar. For events and meetings, MESM Tokyo’s multi-function room can host up to 90 people.
The Autograph Collection aims to offer guests different experiences for each destination. At MESM Tokyo, that means letting them in on the city’s latest in fashion, art, tech and lifestyle. With locally sourced products throughout the hotel, including men’s skincare brand Bulk Homme and brews from the hipstery Sarutahiko Coffee, guests will find it easy to stay on trend.
