1. Foshan: Your Lie in April 

From Beethoven and Mozart to Chopin and Debussy, this musical adaptation of the manga Your Lie in April brings to musical life the story of Kōsei Arima, a young piano prodigy who develops an inability to play following his mother’s death. He strikes up a friendship with violinist Kaori Miyazono, who slowly encourages him to perform again. Catch this “romantic encounter between piano and violin”, led by He Liyan (Arima) and Xia Jiajia (Miyazono).

2. Foshan: Life of Pi 

From London’s West End to Foshan: the critically acclaimed stage adaptation of Life of Pi , based on the novel and Oscar-winning film, uses puppetry and ingenious stagecraft and lighting to create breathtaking theatrical moments. The storyline revolves around a 16-year-old boy and a tiger, two shipwreck survivors who are on a lifeboat lost in the Pacific Ocean.

4. Guangzhou: Angela Zhang 

Taiwan-born singer-actress Angela Chang, whose powerful vocals have graced popular dramas like My MVP Valentine and At Dolphin Bay, is back on stage with her world tour and ready to warble through hits including My Lost Happiness and Darling, That Isn't Love, both composed by Mandopop royalty Jay Chou. 5. Guangzhou: The Pillowman 

Director Zhou Ke brings British Irish playwright Martin McDonagh’s acclaimed production The Pillowman to the Guangzhou Opera House . Starring Zhang Jiahuai, Zhang Benyu and Wu Song, this production delves into the complex relationship between art and morality. The play follows Katurian, a writer who’s interrogated about his disturbing stories that eerily mirror the murder of local children. Haunting and surprisingly tender, the play navigates the blurred boundaries between fiction and reality, creating a captivating mix of suspense and cruelty.

6. Guangzhou: Century-old jewels

Imagine wandering through the Guangdong Museum, where nearly 400 treasures from the 16th to the 20th century are on display at the Lingering Gaze exhibition . It's like stepping into a time machine, but without the risk of accidentally altering history. These artifacts, borrowed from the likes of the Palace Museum, the Capital Museum, and the Ming Tombs Management Center, are divided into three thematic sections. Each piece whispers tales of its creation, historical significance and cultural impact.

7. Guangzhou: Jean-Yves Thibaudet 

Jean-Yves Thibaudet, the French pianist whose fingers have danced across the keys in concert halls from Paris to Tokyo, has etched his name into the annals of music history. With more than 70 albums and numerous film scores to his credit, Thibaudet stands as a paragon of contemporary performance. For one night only, he’ll grace the stage of the Guangzhou Opera House , navigating the intricate landscapes of Claude Debussy’s 24 Préludes.

8. Guangzhou: Astor Piazzolla: Tango Passion, presented by Stephany Ortega Trio 

In the smoky haze of musical revolution, Astor Piazzolla emerged as a mad genius, concocting the wild brew known as Tango Nuevo, which fused jazz with classical. Soprano Stephany Ortega, accompanied by accordion and double bass, revives Piazzolla’s spirit at the Guangzhou Opera House. For one night only, she presents a performance that offers a daring homage to Piazzolla’s legacy and a sensory explosion of musical innovation.

9. Macao: NCT 127  

Globe-conquering K-pop group NCT 127 is bringing their fourth concert tour , titled “The Momentum” to Macao’s Galaxy Arena after a successful run across Asia and North America. The six-person boy band is known for their lush vocals, synchronised choreography and high-energy performances, with more than 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify and hits like Kick It and Cherry Bomb each racking up more than 150 million streams.

10. Macao: Rain 

K-pop icon Rain makes his long-awaited return to Macao with his Still Raining world tour at the Londoner. This concert marks his first performance in the city in almost a decade and follows successful shows in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Kaohsiung and Hong Kong. With a career filled with groundbreaking achievements, including a sold-out Madison Square Garden concert as early as 2006, Rain is set to ignite the stage with his nostalgic song and dance.

11. Macao: Joey Yung 

Cantopop queen Joey Yung is set to descend upon Studio City Event Center. Her Eternity Live tour is more than a series of performance; it’s a journey through decades of hits and new anthems. The stage will be a battleground of light and sound, a sensory overload designed to push the boundaries of reality. Prepare for a ride through the surreal and the sublime, where every note is a shot of adrenaline and every beat a pulse of ecstasy.

12. Macao: Taeyeon 

With more than one million physical albums and twenty million digital singles sold, Taeyeon of group Girls’ Generation, is one of South Korea’s best-selling solo artists. Taeyeon’s The Tense 2025 tour will light up Macao, showcasing her incredible vocal talent and stage presence, and her diverse sound, which spans R&B to pop-rock.

13. Shenzhen: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting 

The dance sensation The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting brings the grandeur of the Song dynasty masterpiece A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains to the stage. The prestigious China Oriental Performing Arts Group transforms the 12-metre scroll into a vibrant spectacle through a mesmerising blend of dance, music, lighting and innovative stage design. Since its Beijing premiere in 2021, this production has toured through more than 70 cities across the Chinese Mainland and charmed international audiences, too.

14. Shenzhen: I Am What I Am 

Inspired by the animated film of the same name, this musical follows an underdog lion dancer’s journey of self-discovery as he defies expectations and societal pressures to pursue his passion, exploring themes of dedication and self-acceptance. Blending lion dance, martial arts, traditional folk and modern pop music, and cutting-edge stagecraft, the production showcases Lingnan culture and conveys the spirit of courage, unity and perseverance through challenging movements and vivid choreography.

15. Shenzhen: Piano Recital by Sergey Babayan 

Armenian American pianist Sergey Babayan is often compared to the great masters of the past. He’s known for breathing new life into the evocative melodies of Austrian composer Franz Schubert, whose works bridge the late Classical and early Romantic eras. Hear Schubert, plus Rachmaninov, Liszt, Sibelius and many more during this performance.

16. Zhuhai: Scenes from a Marriage 

This Chinese adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s Scenes from a Marriage , directed by Guo Shixing, delves into the complexities of intimacy and the slow decay of a relationship. Marianne, a divorce lawyer, and Johan, a psychology reader, find their love tested by an extramarital affair. Featuring actress and dancer Liu Dan and architect-turned-actor He Yufan, the 120-minute play will be performed at the Zhuhai Jinwan Civic Art Centre.
