Hong Kong is diving headfirst into the new zodiac year with thrilling sporting events, world-class art exhibitions and a great cultural lineup this month. From marathons to Impressionist showcases, these are the best February events in Hong Kong.

Runners have spent months prepping for the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon , a 74,000-participant race which winds through the streets of the city. With several categories, serious marathoners will compete for the chance to win up to US$65,000 (HK$500,000) on 9 February. As one of the biggest sporting events in Hong Kong, it’s not uncommon to see lanes of traffic trail alongside runners as they take on the city one step at a time.

Two Impressionist masters are taking over the Hong Kong Museum of Art in a new art exhibition that spotlights the works of French painters Paul Cézanne and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Paris institutions Musée de l’Orangerie and the Musée d’Orsay helped put together the 52-piece curation – the first large-scale exhibition of the artists in Hong Kong. Expect to see Cézanne’s Still Life series and Renoir’s vibrant portraits of his son Claude, among other notable works.

Korean indie group Wave to Earth kick off a month of amazing live music with a night at MacPherson Stadium on 5 February. Meanwhile, Gen-Z favourite Keshi brings his brand of emotional pop to the city with a stop on his Epilogue tour on 21 February; expect tunes like Soft Spot and Beside You to have the crowd in tears.
Cantopop queen Ivana Wong returns on 22 and 23 February to the delight of her home crowd, performing at Hong Kong Coliseum. And Big Bang fans will want to make a pilgrimage to Macao on 15 and 16 February, as member Taeyang is pulling out all the stops for a solo gig at the Galaxy Arena.

In the mood for love? Hong Kong goes above and beyond at this time of year with special Valentine’s Day menus. The Hong Kong Arts Festival is back for 2025, bringing international and local theatre to the fore over several packed weeks. The Shanghai Yue Opera House company will start things off with Yue Chinese opera performances of Family and The Butterfly Lovers on 27 and 28 February, respectively. Over at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna will be presenting a family-friendly programme of classical music around Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite on 28 February.
On the other end of the spectrum, VR and digital art step into the spotlight between 27 February and 9 March with Le Bal de Paris : an immersive VR dance experience that places you in the French capital, dressed head-to-toe in French fashion powerhouse, Chanel.

Horse racing is taking a backseat this month as the action shifts to the water for Hong Kong Race Week . This year’s sailing tournament takes place between 11-16 February and is set to be a massive one: the 2025 29er Asian Championship will be held alongside it. Races kick off at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s Middle Island, where you’ll see fleets of boats competing for a chance at gold.
