Wander down to Gansevoort Street and marvel at Renzo Piano’s Whitney Museum of American Art, which sits as an architectural exclamation mark at the High Line's terminus.

Better still, if arriving by train from DC or New York, you’ll find the city’s cobblestoned centre eminently walkable. Just a short wander from South Station is the booming Seaport District – home to spectacular seafood and harbour views, and the Institute of Contemporary Art.
Follow the red bricks of the Freedom Trail to the North End, Boston's oldest residential neighbourhood. Walk up Salem Street, past the cream-filled cannolis of Bova's Bakery, and you will reach the peaceful Copp's Hill Burying Ground. An amble through the classic destinations of Boston Common, Beacon Hill, and the Back Bay neighbourhoods round out the must-see spots.
