Welcome to Cathay City
At Cathay Pacific, safety is our primary cornerstone, and we are fully committed to providing a safe working environment for everyone. To ensure that all employees, customers, visitors and contractors remain safe and healthy, we ask that you take the time to read and familiarise yourself with the following guidelines.
Access Cards
You will be issued with an access card to gain entry into assigned locations on the Premises. Please display the card prominently on the front and upper portion of your outer clothing and do not allow your card to be used by others.
When leaving the Premises, return the card to the Company’s reception desk at the main entrance. In the event the access card is lost, contact the Company’s reception desk for assistance.
Personal Belongings
Keep your personal belongings with you at all times. Any bag, equipment or other personal items that may pose any risk of injury to people or damage to property should not be brought on to the Premises.
For any equipment, including electrical appliances and tools that are brought on site, ensure they are in a suitable condition and are used in a safe manner. Correctly position the equipment and avoid trailing cables to eliminate the risk of trips and falls.
Responsibilities
While on the Premises, you should:
- Act in a manner that will not interfere with or pose risk to the health and safety of any other person;
- Avoid bringing in any pets or livestock;
- Help take care of any tree, plant, grass, building or other property within the Premises; and
- Supervise any children under the age of 18 that you bring on to the Premises and ensure they are attended to at all times.
First Aid
For minor injuries, first aid kits are located inside pantries on all levels in Cathay City and outside the elevators in the Flight Training Centre. A list of first aiders is also available next to the first aid kit if assistance is required.
In the event of serious medical emergencies, please contact:
- Cathay City clinic on 9276-6684 or 2747-2954 during office hours; or
- Ambulance services on 2735-3355 or 999 outside office hours.
Please inform the Facilities Management Office on 2747 4916 of the event, who can then assist in directing the first aider and ambulance to the scene.
*4 Automated External Defibrillator (AED) are installed at various locations in Cathay City, one of which are located at the reception. Inform the Facilities Management Office if it is needed.
Fire and emergency
On discovering a fire
- Break glass of the fire alarm call point to activate the fire alarm.
- Do not attempt to extinguish the fire unless it is safe to do so.
- Follow the evacuation plan below.
On hearing the alarm
- Evacuate the building through the nearest fire exit in a calm and orderly manner.
- Do not use the elevator to evacuate.
- Close any doors that you pass through but do not lock them.
- Proceed to the assembly point.
- Do not return to the building or leave the assembly point until further notice.
Smoking
Cathay City is designated as a smoke-free working environment and all areas within the boundary of the building complex are marked as “smoke free” areas. There are three designated smoking areas within the Premises and they are located at:
- The forecourt between Lion Rock Café and Dakotas, accessible from the Street, far south end;
- On the ground floor, accessible through the carpark to the rear side of the building; and
- Adjacent to the loading bay at the north end of Cathay City.
Accessibility
Buildings are designed to be as accessible as possible to offer a barrier free environment. Power-assist transport devices are available in certain areas within the building. Please contact the Facilities Management Office if assistance is needed.
