    Winner: 42 Mayfair, London, UK

Visual allure abounds at 42 Mayfair, a lavish Indian cocktail lounge above the Michelin-starred Gymkhana restaurant that saw off the likes of Jigger & Pony and Speak Low to be voted Best Bar. Rich tapestries, crystal chandeliers and whimsical jungle cat sculptures set the scene for boldly spiced drinks infused with South Asian staples – think coriander seed, curry leaf, ginger, peppercorn and even red ant chutney.
