Find a slice of zen above the frenzy of Tokyo atop Toranomon Hills, the city’s tallest building. Hyatt’s boutique hotel brand, Andaz, occupies the top seven levels of the 52-storey tower. Views from the 164 guest rooms mesmerise in any direction: south-facing rooms look upon Tokyo Tower while to the north is Tokyo Skytree, the world’s second-tallest structure after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Guests arrive via the 51st-floor lobby, where they find paper partitions and lattice wall panels as decor. Red leather club chairs and meticulously trimmed bonsai trees keep up the Japanese aesthetic at Andaz Tavern, where European dishes are finished with Japanese flavours. Its views are outdone only by those from the Rooftop Bar, a haven of woven cane chaises, cushy daybeds and tropical cocktails.
