The Bridge, a beloved Cathay Pacific lounge, is back

As our beloved lounge reopens, we explore its enhanced features and how they’ll elevate your next journey

This month is an especially exciting one at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA): The Bridge is reopening, with a re-energised design, amenities and dining selection. With its famous Long Bar, delicious menus and impressive airfield view, our beloved lounge was a “customer favourite” that members have been excited to see reopen after its closure in 2020, says Marcus Lui, Head of End-to-End Customer Experience and Strategy at Cathay Pacific.

The upgrade is a unique opportunity to harmonise elements from across the brand, with motifs you’ll recognise from The Deck and The Pier lounges. “The intent is to bring The Bridge in line with the contemporary Cathay Pacific lounge design language,” says Vivien Sun, Customer Experience Manager – Lounge Portfolio and Strategy. “This lounge has many refined features that we’re going to take even further in our other lounges at HKIA and worldwide.”

You’ll notice one new feature of The Bridge as soon as you arrive. Three new biometric check-in points alleviate the need to show your travel documents and boarding pass. This technology will be progressively rolled out across our other HKIA lounges. Meanwhile, the original artwork you’ll see on the walls of The Bridge is an extension of our Business cabin art project Gallery in the skies, comprising thoughtful, eye-catching pieces by Hong Kong artists. “This will create stronger continuity between our ground and inflight experiences,” says Lui.

Dining was one of the most important considerations when it came to the design upgrade. We strove for a more intuitive layout, with a selection of food and drinks that reflects our customers’ tastes. The result is The Nook, a new area serving Chinese small plates – from flaky pastries to chilled appetisers, and a roujiamo that’s sure to be a new favourite. There’s even a dim sum trolley for a touch of Hong Kong nostalgia. Fans of The Noodle Bar will also be pleased to hear this signature feature of our lounges can now be found at The Bridge, offering classics such as wonton and dan dan noodles alongside punchy new regional dishes.

Whether you’re travelling on business or with friends, your partner or young children, we’ve carefully crafted The Bridge to support you and your needs in a convenient and frictionless environment.
