Bookable Upgrades

Gold and Diamond members can earn Bookable Upgrades to secure an upgrade to the next cabin class when they reach a certain number of club points. These can be booked in advance, and all of the benefits, plus the number of club points and Asia Miles earned, are based on the upgraded cabin class. This is the only upgrade type with this feature.

4 single-sector Bookable Upgrades

For yourself or a travel companion.

For ultra-short (1–750 miles), short (751–2750 miles), and medium-haul (2751–3700 miles) flights marketed and operated by Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon.

4 single-sector Bookable Upgrades

For yourself or a travel companion or a Redemption Group member. May also be given to a Redemption Group member travelling on their own.

For flights of any distance marketed and operated by Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon.

The original flight must have a confirmed booking and a ticket issued for an eligible fare class: Economy (Y, B, H, K, M), Premium Economy (W, R) or Business (J, C, D, I).

All requests must be made online at least 15 days before flight departure.

Once you have reached the required number of club points, your mid-tier benefit will automatically appear in your account for you to claim. Visit your mid-tier benefits summary page to view your earned benefits and expiration dates.

 

  1. In deciding on when you would like to use your Bookable Upgrade, be sure you have a confirmed booking and a ticket issued for an eligible fare class: Economy (Y, B, H, K, M), Premium Economy (W, R) or Business (J, C, D, I).
  2. Log in to your account and visit your mid-tier benefits summary page and select ‘Request a Bookable Upgrade’ next to your benefit.  Requests must be made online  at least 15 days before your flight departure.
  3. Fill in your details and select the passenger’s name and flight sector.
  4. Once you have submitted your request, a representative from our service centre will email you with the result within 72 hours.
  5. Once the upgrade is confirmed, the passenger’s flight details will automatically be updated under ‘Manage Booking.’ You can also visit your mid-tier benefits summary page for the latest status.
  6. Please check in at the airport counter for the upgraded flight, as online check-in is not yet available.


Change or cancel a Bookable Upgrade:

 

  1. First confirm the booking for the flight sector you would like to change the benefit to, then fill out the online form at least 15 days before your flight departure. Cancelling the benefit will also cancel the confirmed flight booking.
  2. Once you have submitted your request, a representative from our service centre will email you with the result within 72 hours.

 

Bookable Upgrades must be requested online within 12 months of the date they were issued.  

  • Gold members – 4 Bookable Upgrade sectors will be awarded to members upon reaching 1,000 club points. These can be used by the member or their travel companions, and are valid on ultra-short, short, and medium-haul flights marketed and operated by Cathay Pacific Airways or Cathay Dragon.
  • Diamond members – 4 Bookable Upgrade sectors will be awarded to members upon reaching 1,600 club points. These can be used by the member, their travel companions, or members of their Redemption Group, and are valid on flights of any distance marketed and operated by Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon.
  • Travel companions – they may use the  Bookable Upgrade given to them by the member when they are travelling with the member on the same booking.
  • Redemption Group – a group of up to 5 family members and/or friends nominated by the member, for whom the member can redeem their Asia Miles for awards. More information on Redemption Groups is available on the Asia Miles website. Redemption Group members can enjoy the Bookable Upgrade Lounge Pass without travelling together with the member.
  • Bookable Upgrades are available for 12 months from the date of issue.
  • Bookable Upgrades must be claimed online and are not available on the mobile app or at airport check-in.
  • Each Bookable Upgrade allows one passenger to upgrade to one cabin class above their current booking for one sector.
  • Travel benefits, club points and Asia Miles are based on the new cabin class once the Bookable Upgrade has succeeded.
  • The requested flight must have a confirmed booking and a ticket issued for an eligible fare class.
    • Subject to seat availability, Economy fare classes Y, B, H, K, and M will be upgraded to Premium Economy fare class E. If a Premium Economy cabin is not available on the flight, the ticket will be upgraded to Business Class fare class I.
    • Subject to seat availability, Premium Economy fare classes W and R will be upgraded to Business Class fare class I.
    • Subject to seat availability, Business Class fare classes J, C, D and I will be upgraded to First Class fare class A.
  • Bookable Upgrades are not eligible for use in conjunction with Asia Miles flight upgrades and companion rewards.
  • Wait list is not allowed for Bookable Upgrades.
  • A Bookable Upgrade is subject to applicable taxes and other surcharges.
  • Bookable Upgrade entitlements are tier-specific and are not available to members on Membership Holiday.
  • Requests, changes and cancellations must be made online 15 to 360 days before the flight departure date.
  • Cancelling a Bookable Upgrade will also cancel the confirmed ticket booking.
  • More than one Bookable Upgrade request for the same flight sector is not allowed.
  • Any rebooking or change of date will be governed by the terms and conditions of the original class ticket.
  • Upgrades are not available for redemption, prize, group, ID/AD (industry/agency) discounts or other free tickets.
  • Upgrades are not available for Cathay Pacific Holiday packages.
  • Online check-in service is not available for the upgraded flight; please check in at the airport.
  • In case of any flight irregularity, the member should contact the Marco Polo Club Service Centre for further assistance.
