As we celebrate 80 Years Together, we’re reminiscing about the journeys we’ve shared with you over the decades and commemorating our history with a special collection of Cathay merchandise that you’ll treasure for years to come.
Our new Classic eras collection reflects milestones in our history, from our modest beginnings as a regional airline after the Second World War to the expansion of our fleet in the Jet Age and the launch of our signature Brushwing logo.

1. Airbus A350-900 80th anniversary special livery model (1:200)
We’ve dressed our signature Airbus A350-900 model aircraft in the iconic “lettuce leaf sandwich” livery, the design that defined our fleet from the 1970s to the early ’90s. It’s embellished with an " design detail commemorating the airline’s anniversary this year – an “80” emblazoned on the replica’s body. Made and painted with precision, this special-edition model honours both the historical livery and the Airbus A350 aircraft, which joined our fleet in 2016 and is distinguished by improved aerodynamics, a wider cabin and upgraded inflight amenities.
2. Boeing 747-8F 80th anniversary special livery model (1:200)
This collectible replica also sports the 80th anniversary-version of our “lettuce leaf sandwich” livery. The model pays tribute to our ''Queen of the Skies'' too, which first joined the fleet in 1979 and enabled a rapid expansion of Cathay Pacific’s network in the 1980s and ’90s, thanks to its larger carrying capacity. The Boeing 747-8F, which Cathay Cargo continues to operate, also holds great significance – we were the first airline in Asia to adopt this aircraft, featuring improved payload along with reduced noise and maintenance costs thanks to its enhanced wing design.
Collectibles based on our magnificent fleet have always been popular with aviation fans, from model aircraft to novelty items like aircraft-shaped piggy banks and phones. For our 80th anniversary, we’re releasing a variety of models showcasing our most iconic aircraft, from our first Douglas DC-3, “Betsy”, to the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 747-8F bearing our classic “lettuce leaf sandwich” livery.
Meanwhile, a limited-edition set includes a model Boeing 777-300ER featuring our newly unveiled Spirit of Hong Kong – 80th Anniversary Edition livery, created in collaboration with the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority. You’ll also see our aircraft printed on special canvas tote bags and Remove Before Flight key rings.
3. Airbus A350-900 or Boeing 747-8F 80th anniversary special livery tote bags
Available in two versions, this commemorative green canvas tote depicts either the Airbus A350-900 or the Boeing 747-8F which have been redressed in our “lettuce leaf sandwich” livery to celebrate our legacy, with a subtle Cathay Pacific logo printed at the bottom. Lightweight, durable and moderately sized, the bag is ideal for everyday use – from commuting and gym sessions to a full day out. A handy inside pocket provides space to store your phone.
4. Airbus A350-900 or Boeing 747-8F 80th anniversary special livery Remove Before Flight keychain
This special edition safety tag keychain comes in two versions: one featuring the Airbus A350-900 and the other the Boeing 747-8F. Both aircraft are adorned with the special anniversary “lettuce leaf sandwich” livery, displayed alongside their model number and Cathay’s 80-year anniversary logo. The reverse side carries the phrase “remove before flight”, a reference to the practice of attaching such tags to aircraft components requiring attention before take-off.
To create the Classic eras collection, we trawled through the Swire Archives to find vintage memorabilia and revive their designs. Housed in an elegant box, our badge sets are inspired by retro Cathay Pacific insignia and aircraft, as well as luggage stickers and tags.
An archival sticker with our 1950s “Cathay Pacific Airways” logo has a new lease of life as a pennant-shaped badge that’s the perfect ornament for your jacket or backpack. And you can make journeys effortless with our functional and stylish travel accessories, such as a sleek green passport holder with a wave pattern that recalls the boarding pass folders handed to passengers at check-in counters in the 1980s.
5. Classic eras film camera
Four retro cameras have been released with distinct designs highlighting moments throughout Cathay’s eight-decade history. The green-and-white striped design of the Brushwing legacy echoes the iconic livery, and the airline's Asian roots and progressive spirit. The Journey Begins offers a nostalgic tribute to our early days, while the switch to an all-jet fleet is remembered in Soaring to New Heights. Connecting to the world honours the iconic “lettuce leaf sandwich”. Whether you’re drawn to vintage aesthetics or enjoy analogue hobbies, this retro self-winding film camera delivers on both fronts.
