Ask a Cathay member: what’s your favourite memory of flying with us?

Since Cathay Pacific was established in 1946, we’ve flown countless passengers to exciting destinations, reconnected you with loved ones and even made room onboard for your furry family members. As we celebrate 80 Years Together with our global community, we asked Cathay members to reflect on the journeys with us that they’ll never forget.  

“Last summer, I went on holiday to Switzerland with my dog. On our Cathay Pacific flight back to Hong Kong, after confirming that my canine companion was safely onboard, the captain asked what temperature my dog would like his ‘cabin’ to be set to. To me, that’s the height of good service!”  

“My fondest memories are of all the journeys home with Cathay Pacific, which has always been my airline of choice. It’s the little things that have stayed with me over the years: a warm welcome, a conversation onboard or Cathay cabin crew going the extra mile. 

“No matter how far away I am from Hong Kong, seeing Cathay’s Brushwing logo brings a sense of familiarity that’s hard to describe. The minute I step onboard, it feels like I’m already part of the way home.

“On a recent trip from Taipei to Hong Kong, my family was most impressed by Cathay Pacific’s lounge at Taoyuan International Airport. We loved that we could enjoy the familiar taste of Hong Kong-style wonton noodles despite being in a different city, in addition to famous Taiwanese delicacies like beef noodles and braised pork rice washed down with bubble tea.

“What made the journey truly unforgettable for me, however, was the warm hospitality from Cathay Pacific cabin crew. From boarding and inflight meal service through to arrival, they were especially attentive. It made me reluctant to disembark after landing in Hong Kong.”

“On my first work trip in Business class from Brisbane to Hong Kong, I had the honour of being greeted personally by the First Officer. It was a wonderful experience that I still talk about today.” 

“I moved to Hong Kong from Australia, and it always feels special to journey home for Christmas with Cathay Pacific. The crew are always kind and the service smooth all the way. 

“Last year, I flew back to Australia for a road trip along Victoria’s scenic Great Ocean Road with my family and friends. Our favourite spot was Apollo Bay, a relaxed beach town about a three-hour drive from Melbourne. Make sure to try the fish and chips from the Apollo Bay Fisherman’s Co-op – it’s unbeatable.”  

“Because Cathay Pacific has such a great inflight entertainment platform, I use long-haul flights as an opportunity to catch up on movies I’ve missed. On my last flight to London, I finished four movies back-to-back: a personal record. I appreciated how the cabin crew gave me space to enjoy the entertainment uninterrupted while always being there when I needed them. To me, that balance of attentiveness and discretion takes a high level of skill.”
