Coronavirus (COVID-19) FAQs

At the airport

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA)

For the latest shopping and dining arrangements at the Hong Kong airport, please visit their official website.

If you're ending your journey in Hong Kong, visit our Arriving in Hong Kong page and the Hong Kong Government COVID-19 website to find out what to expect upon arrival.

If you’re in transit, there are no additional documents, forms or checks required. With your onward boarding pass in hand, simply proceed through security and upstairs to the departures level.

To ensure passengers and crew have the latest information, we also make updated health message broadcasts on all flights arriving into Hong Kong. These broadcasts alert everyone on board to the current situation and the necessary actions required.

Hand sanitisers are available throughout the Hong Kong International Airport terminal, at multiple locations.

We've put in place a number of precautionary measures such as:

  • encouraging online check-in to minimise time required at the counter and kiosk
  • working with the Hong Kong Airport Authority to ensure Perspex screens are installed; and that social distancing markers, stickers and signage is clear and well positioned around the airport terminal
  • asking passengers to board by rows
  • using the e-boarding gates for a contactless boarding experience on all Cathay Pacific flights

To ensure passengers and crew have the latest information, we make updated health message broadcasts on all flights arriving into Hong Kong. These broadcasts alert everyone on board to the current situation and the necessary actions required.

Global airports

We continue to recommend arriving two to three hours prior to departure. We suggest this amount of time to ensure we can confirm your eligibility to travel and ensure all health, safety and regulatory checks are completed.

We encourage all passengers to check in online before coming to the airport. For some destinations, where additional COVID-19 related documentation checks are still required, we still need to ask that you come to the check-in counter so that we can confirm your eligibility to travel, and ensure all health, safety and regulatory checks are completed.

Yes. Online check-in is available for all passengers prior to departure. You can check in online, provide your travel document details, and select your seat as normal. We are currently not able to provide mobile or self-print boarding passes for some destinations where additional COVID-19 related documentation checks are still required.
