Inside our Diamond members’ luncheons with Cathay Group CEO Ronald Lam

Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for warm gatherings and good food. In the spirit of joyful reunions, we arranged two consecutive luncheons ahead of the festival in September to celebrate with some of our valued Diamond members.

Hosted by Cathay Group CEO Ronald Lam, this event gave our senior leadership an opportunity to connect with some of our Diamond members, hear their valuable feedback on our service, and share updates about the future of our business.

There was no place better to celebrate than Mott 32 , where classic Cantonese cuisine is served with a delightfully modern twist. We’re very proud to have Mott 32 as our dining partner at The Pier, First and The Deck; we knew we could expect the best from their sumptuous Chinese fare.

During the luncheon, Ronald gave a welcome speech emphasising the significant role our Diamond members play as the go-getters and tastemakers of our global community. Thanks to the ongoing support of our world travellers and Cathay Cargo partners, we reported a HK$3.7 billion profit for the first half of 2025. Ronald was also pleased to announce the continued expansion of our passenger network, which now serves more than 100 destinations around the world as a group. This year alone, we announced or launched 19 new routes as a group, including Brussels, Munich, and Dallas-Fort Worth, reinforcing Hong Kong’s connectivity with the world.

Ronald also reiterated our commitment to invest over HK$100 billion into enhancing the customer experience and bolstering Hong Kong’s role as a global aviation hub, from purchasing more than 100 new-generation aircraft for our sizable fleet to refurbishing our lounges. Our Diamond members were particularly interested in hearing that aircraft equipped with our award-winning Aria Suite are now serving London, Beijing, Sydney, Melbourne and Vancouver, with more destinations to follow. Building on these achievements, Ronald shared that we will be introducing brand-new cabins and a flat-bed Business class product on our existing Airbus A330s in 2026, followed by a world-leading First class experience onboard our Boeing 777-9s when the first aircraft are expected to arrive in 2027.

On this high note, Ronald ended his opening remarks by extending his early wishes for Mid-Autumn Festival. We wrapped up this insightful gathering by presenting our guests with a special seasonal gift: Cathay x The Peninsula Boutique mini mooncakes. Ensconced in a beautiful jade gift box with a circular design inspired by lunar phases, these delectable mooncakes come in three flavours – egg custard, lotus seed paste with egg yolk, and Earl Grey custard – and are the perfect accompaniment to a night of moongazing with friends and family this Mid-Autumn Festival. We’re grateful to the Diamond members who joined us for our two luncheons and we wish you all a magical Mid-Autumn.
