Located in downtown Kaohsiung’s Sinsing District, Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung Central Park is across the road from Central Park and Central Park Station. The city’s famous Liuhe Night Market is just 15 minutes’ walk or 10 minutes’ MRT ride away.
Drawing inspiration from the city’s maritime heritage, the hotel’s decor is awash with nautical elements that complement Kaohsiung’s art-meets-harbour identity. As soon as you step into the lobby, you’re greeted by an array of ship-themed artwork, including a bow and anchor, setting the scene for a seafaring adventure.
The hotel cleverly incorporates unique vintage elements such as customs stamps, wooden crates and tin cans throughout its design, evoking a bygone era. Luxurious Sealy bedding comes as standard, and there’s a choice of seven pillow types on the menu to ensure a good night’s kip. We stayed in the King Premium Park View Separate Bath room, which was bright and stylish and offered a superb view of Central Park, especially from the bathroom. While away an hour or two soaking in the amazing standalone bathtub for a relaxing finale to a day of sightseeing or shopping.
While the night market and Shinkuchan Shopping District are just a hop, skip and a jump away, Hotel Indigo’s three dining and drinks venues are not to be overlooked. Rooftop bar Pier No.1 offers a 270-degree city panorama, showcasing Kaohsiung's cultural landscape. We loved the hotel’s signature cocktails, such as the Old Soul, made with homemade jasmine green tea gin, or the Chili Girl, which was concocted with whisky and tabasco. Pair your drink with a nibble inspired by Taiwanese street food classics, and savour an authentic taste of Kaohsiung as you watch the sun set.
