Buzzing with energy, neon lights and throngs of savvy shoppers, Mong Kok is Hong Kong’s hub for all things fashion-centric. And if you’re hunting for a new pair of Hong Kong sneakers (or “trainers”), this is an essential stop.

Sneaker Street is located in the heart of Mong Kok and runs parallel to the iconic Ladies Market. Its history dates back to Hong Kong’s economic boom in the 1970s, when the cost of rent increased and shops moved away from the popular Nathan Road in search of more affordable spaces. Many shops landed on Fa Yuen Street, which at the time consisted mostly of mahjong dens, small restaurants, shops and market stalls. As the early movers thrived, more businesses followed, and those already there grew, cementing the nickname of “Sneaker Street”. Today, this 150-metre stretch packs in more than 100 sneaker shops and acts as a hotspot for sneakerheads.
