What’s the deal with the Yaber L2 Plus?

The L2 Plus boasts crystal-clear picture quality, with 1080p full HD resolution, alongside a host of features to regulate the projected image: auto focus, auto keystone correction, intelligent screen alignment and intelligent obstacle avoidance. Meanwhile, sound comes courtesy of dual 8W JBL stereo speakers powered by Dolby Audio, creating an immersive and cinematic environment where the noise level of the fan – under 35dB – is barely noticeable.

The portable projector’s design comes with a rotatable stand that can be easily detached, so you can swap between tabletop placement and ceiling mounting. And with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0, as well as USB, earphone and HDMI ports, the L2 Plus can connect to a range of networks and devices, including your PC, phone, DVD player, soundbar and gaming console.

The L2 Plus comes with a remote control, lens cover, cleaning kit, HDMI cable and power cord. Just as important are the in-built content options, with access to Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube. So whether you’re starting the day with a quick vlog, putting on a movie for date night, or staying home all weekend to binge your favourite TV series, this streaming projector has you covered.

First impressions

As I set up the smart projector on a table quite far from my bed, it was difficult for the image to be automatically aligned. Thankfully, I was able to use manual keystone correction to adjust each corner, minimising vertical and horizontal distortion to achieve an even and rectangular picture.

I loved how I could connect to all my favourite streaming platforms with the Yaber projector. Plus, it supports screen mirroring for seamless viewing – so I could go from watching a video on my phone to a much larger and clearer image on my wall, which was gentler on my eyes.  All you have to do is ensure your device and the L2 Plus are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Watching YouTube videos was especially convenient, as you can rewind or fast forward with the remote control. If you can’t fall asleep without something playing in the background, this mini projector offers multiple solutions. Turn your lights off, get snug under the blankets in a cosy dark room, and project your go-to show onto the wall – or use the L2 Plus as a Bluetooth speaker to play soothing tunes – before drifting off into dreamland.

Any cons?

The L2 Plus was a little difficult to set up in my cramped bedroom environment. Too close to me, and the sound was rather overwhelming on one side; yet further away, I struggled with image focus. For optimal image quality, the recommended angle of alignment to the wall should be within 15 degrees, which I likely exceeded. If possible, it’s probably best to mount the projector to your ceiling, especially for smaller rooms.

Final thoughts

Once you get past the initial setup, the Yaber L2 Plus mini projector ticks all the boxes for a compact home projector. It’s excellent for intimate movie nights, but be warned that you might never want to visit a theatre again – or even venture out to the living room.
