    Medan is home to the world’s largest volcanic lake, Lake Toba. Spend a day on the unspoiled Samosir Island – the world’s largest island within an island – for a panoramic sunset view over Lake Toba. Adventurous trekkers will find pleasure in hiking the two volcanos in Berastagi – the picture-perfect Mount Sibayak (7,257 ft.) and the more challenging Mount Sinaburg (8,070 ft.). No trip to Berastagi is complete without a visit to the multicoloured Sipoholon Hot Springs, and the Dua Warna Waterfall. Inside of the city, sample the famous local delicacies such as kwetiau goreng (fried rice noodles) at the backstreet food stalls. The story-rich Maimoon Palace and Chinese mansion-turned museum Tjong A Fie Mansion are also not to miss.
