What are the key changes to the membership programme?

We are evolving our Cathay membership programme with an aim to provide greater simplicity and a smoother pathway to status upgrades. Here are the key changes set to take effect on 1 January 2027:

    • Smoother status progression – Your Status Points will no longer reset to zero every time you earn a higher status. Instead, your balance will only reset at the end of the year (i.e., 31 December of each year).
    • Standardised membership cycle – You will earn Status Points annually from 1 January to 31 December. The Status Points accumulated during this period will determine your status in the following year. If you earn enough Status Points to qualify for a higher status, you can start enjoying the associated benefits the next day until the end of the following year.
    • Status Points rollover - Gold members and above can roll over excess Status Points – up to 50% of the points required for renewal – to the next year as a head start.
    • Diamond Exec – A new elite membership status will be introduced between Diamond and Diamond Plus (Diamond Plus is an invitation-only status).
    • Diamond membership reserve – Members who have held any Diamond status for five years are now eligible for Diamond membership reserve and will earn a complimentary Diamond membership (valid for up to one year) for every 6,000 Status Points accumulated since 2016.
