Cathay Pacific invites Japan and Hong Kong public to participate in ‘We Love Japan’ Facebook campaign

11 Jul 2011

Cathay Pacific Airways is inviting members of the public in Hong Kong and Japan to share their travel experiences in either of the two destinations on the airline’s official Facebook fanpage in Japan. Participants will have a chance to win a Cathay Pacific souvenir from now until 30 September 2011.

The public can share their travel experiences either in written form or through photos taken during visits to Japan or Hong Kong. They can also provide tourism-related information on Japan such as details of special events and must-see travel spots.

There are different prizes on offer in each month of the campaign, starting with 200 Cathay Pacific T-shirts to be given away in July. Other attractive Cathay Pacific souvenirs are being lined up for August and September. Winners of the campaign will be announced on Cathay Pacific’s Japan Facebook page.

The Facebook promotion is part of the airline’s “We Love Japan” campaign, which was developed to support the ongoing efforts to reinvigorate tourism to Japan following the earthquake and tsunami that hit the country in March. The campaign also aimed to restore confidence among the Hong Kong public regarding travel to Japan.

A total of 500 round-trip air tickets from Hong Kong to Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo were given away in “We Love Japan” as lucky draw prizes, and the winners will also be invited to share their personal experiences through Facebook.

Cathay Pacific General Manager Japan Simon Large said: “We were touched by the many heart-warming submissions in the ‘We Love Japan’ campaign. The outcome was exactly what we had hoped for – an opportunity to ‘reconnect’. We look forward to seeing more wonderful contributions posted from Japan and Hong Kong on our Facebook fanpage.

“Cathay Pacific has operated between Japan and Hong Kong for over 50 years and is a key player in Japan’s tourism industry. We will continue to serve as a bridge connecting Japan and Hong Kong to other cities around the world.”
