Cathay Pacific offers exclusive duty free luxury goods for anniversary
31 Mar 2006
Cathay Pacific Airways has teamed up with a number of the world’s leading luxury brands to produce a range of duty free commemorative items to celebrate the airline’s 60th anniversary. They can be only purchased on board Cathay Pacific flights.
They include renowned Swiss watchmaker IWC, which has manufactured a limited-edition of 100 pieces Classic Pilot Chronograph watch, an Aigner "Andrea Palladio" lady’s pen with 60 diamonds, Tasaki pearl necklace with 60 Akoya pearls, Alexander Grappa with a blown glass model of Betsy, the airline’s first aircraft, inside the bottle, and Peninsula & Cathay Pacific co-branded pralines.
Cathay Pacific has for a long time offered a number of goods that can only be purchased on board its flights, but this range rises to new heights of luxury. Items will be carried on all flights while stocks last, with the exception of the IWC watch, which priced at HK$31,800, must be pre-ordered online by passengers 4 to 21 days before their departure.
Duty free pre-orders can be made under the “Before you Fly” section of the airline’s web site cathaypacific.com.
Cathay Pacific is also producing a range of its own commemorative items, including limited edition scale models of aircraft from its fleet in the past 60 years and trendy retro travel bags from the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s. Other special collectables will be unveiled later in the year.
Cathay Pacific Inflight Sales and Logistics Manager Cindy Lam said: “To celebrate 60 years of Cathay Pacific serving Hong Kong we wanted to offer our loyal passengers something very special to mark this event. Our latest selection of luxury items, exclusive to Cathay Pacific, is memorable, elegant and of excellent duty free shopping value.”
