$140,100 of successful bid for Silent Witness racing plate donated to the Community Chest of Hong Kong

The first-ever Silent Witness horseshoe auction for charity, which began on 5 May, ended on Thursday 12 May 2005. The successful bid of HK$140,100 will be donated to the Community Chest of Hong Kong. There were 58 valid bids through www.ebay.com.hk and the auction hotline 312 88 312 in total.
Mr. Alan Wong, General Manager Corporate Communication, Cathay Pacific Airways Limited and Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, Executive Director, Racing of the Hong Kong Jockey Club present a cheque for $140,100 to Mr John Chan, Campaign Committee Co-chairman, The Community Chest of Hong Kong, at the Silent Witness Horseshoe Charity Auction donation presentation ceremony in the Parade Ring at Sha Tin Racecourse this afternoon.
Mr. Arthur Antonio da Silva & Mrs. Betty da Silva, owners of Silent Witness who donated one of the shoes worn by Silent Witness when winning the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint on 12 December 2004 for the auction, also attend the donation presentation ceremony today.
"Guess the Winning Bid" game for public members participation has also closed on 11 May 2005. The closest guess amount was HK$138,000 as none of the participants successfully guessed the winning bid.
The successful bidder of the Silent Witness horseshoe will be given one pair of round-trip business class tickets from Hong Kong to any city in Asia by Cathay Pacific Airways.
Cathay Pacific Airways will also give the winner of "Guess the Winning Bid" game one pair of round-trip economy class tickets from Hong Kong to any city in Asia.
