Cathay Pacific launches wine naming competition

Cathay Pacific Airways today launched a first-of-its-kind competition to give a Chinese name to the fine French wine, Château Branaire Ducru, recently introduced inflight to First Class passengers.
First prize is a pair of Cathay Pacific Business Class tickets to any Cathay Pacific online destination. Two lucky draw winners who participate in this competition will also have a chance to win a double magnum bottle of the wine’s 2000 vintage presented by Château Branaire Ducru President Patrick Maroteaux with a lucky draw.
Château Branaire Ducru is a red wine produced in the Bordeaux region of France. It was selected by the airline's wine tasting panel following a year-long process that included the blind tasting of wines from 30 chateaux with up to 10 vintages from each chateau. The wine’s Chinese name should reflect its premium quality and be easy to memorize and understand.
The competition can be entered on the Cathay Pacific website
from 15 July to 15 August 2005, clicking on the competition link. Entrants must be Hong Kong identity card holders and aged 18 years or over on 15 August 2005. All participants should refer to the website for terms and conditions. For further queries, they can contact the hotline at 2747-2200.
The judging panel will comprise a number of renowned local food and wine experts, including Chua Lam, Joe Chen, Lau Chi Sun, Louisa Wong, Wilson Kwok and Walter Kei along with Cathay Pacific Director of Service Delivery Quince Chong.
The winner will be announced on the Cathay Pacific web site and in the Oriental Daily News and South China Morning Post newspapers on 21 September 2005.
