Cathay Pacific the official airline for Fortune Global Forum
16 May 2005
Cathay Pacific Airways today announced it is proud to be Official Airline of the FORTUNE Global Forum 2005 in Beijing. It is the third time Cathay Pacific has served this role. The airline sponsored the 2001 forum in Hong Kong and 1999 forum in Shanghai.
The FORTUNE Global Forum brings together the world’s leading chief executives, academics and government leaders to explore key business issues facing the world. This forum’s theme will be "China and the New Asian Century" and President of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao will deliver the keynote address at the gala opening on the evening of 16 May.
To mark the forum, Cathay Pacific is to donate money to The Community Chest of Hong Kong rather than present souvenirs to forum delegates. The airline will donate US$50 for each Forum attendee to the Community Chest. Certificates will be presented to each delegate explaining how the contribution will help people in need in Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Philip Chen will also speak and introduce China’s Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai who will address the Forum on 18 May 2005.
Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Philip Chen said: “Cathay Pacific, as the airline of Hong Kong, is proud to once again be the Official Airline for the FORTUNE Global Forum. Hong Kong, as a global hub and gateway to the Mainland, is at the heart of ‘China and the New Asian Century’. We will continue to work hard to create more connections between China and the rest of the world through Hong Kong.”
