Cathay Pacific management has no plans to visit Beijing
23 Jun 2003
Cathay Pacific Airways today confirmed that the company currently has no plan for its senior executives to visit Beijing in connection with the airline’s wish to resume services to the capital. Media reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate.
Cathay Pacific Airways has been designated by the Hong Kong SAR Government to operate passenger and cargo services between Hong Kong and Beijing, and the airline intends to begin the process of seeking operational approval and obtaining slots from the Chinese Mainland authorities, in line with the established application mechanism.
The airline has also been licensed to operate to Shanghai and Xiamen and is currently reviewing with the Hong Kong authorities the options for designation on those routes.
