Cathay Pacific welcomes Taiwan reissuing landing visas

14 Jul 2003

Cathay Pacific Airways welcomed Taiwan’s decision to today resume granting landing visas upon arrival to Hong Kong residents. The move marks a complete end to travel restrictions between Hong Kong and Taiwan, and will encourage more popular spur-of-the-moment travel to Taiwan.

Cathay Pacific Airways General Manager Corporate Communication Alan Wong said: “This is very encouraging because it will definitely trigger more travellers to visit Taipei, which is one of the most popular business and leisure destinations for Hong Kong people. We expect that traffic between Hong Kong and Taipei will increase in line with our plan to operate a full schedule of 103 fights a week by September. As Hong Kong’s carrier, Cathay Pacific will do all it can to enhance Hong Kong as Asia’s leading aviation hub.”

The airline is currently operating 67 flights per week between Hong Kong and Taipei.
