Cathay Pacific to sponsor Chinese New Year Parade

Cathay Pacific Airways announced today that it is proud to be the title sponsor for this year's Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Parade - the focus of Hong Kong's celebrations to greet the Year of the Horse in 2002.
On 12 February, the first day of the Lunar New Year, the Cathay Pacific Float will lead another 21 local and international floats and 38 performance groups along the 2-km harbour-front route from Admiralty to Wan Chai.
The event, inaugurated seven years ago, is an integral part of Hong Kong's Chinese New Year festivities and draws tourists from around the world. This will be the fifth consecutive year that Cathay Pacific is the parade's title sponsor.
Cathay Pacific Director and Chief Operating Officer Philip Chen said: "We are delighted to once again lead the Chinese New Year Parade. As title sponsor we will help bring performers from all over the world to our home here in Hong Kong. Our continued sponsorship shows our commitment to enhancing Hong Kong's position as the events capital of Asia."
The Cathay Pacific Float will feature animated characters of different nationalities symbolising world peace and cultural harmony, and an array of small aeroplanes illustrates Cathay Pacific's commitment to expand its network and bring the world closer to Hong Kong. About 100 Cathay Pacific cabin crew will join the celebrations and Cathay Pacific souvenirs will be handed out along the route.
As Hong Kong's airline, Cathay Pacific has always played a leading role in bringing a wide range of events to Hong Kong, including being the title sponsor for the Hong Kong season of the award-winning stage musical Miss Saigon. Cathay Pacific is also the official carrier for the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and a co-title sponsor for the annual Hong Kong Cricket Sixes.
